“My number one prayer, Lord,” I prayed before climbing into bed one night, “is that I please you.”
Imagine my surprise as I considered my prayer. Oh, how mightily the Lord has changed me over the years. I lived for decades knowing virtually nothing about the Lord. Then I believed in Him but still lived for me. Then I began to learn how to live for Him not for me.
I have been falling in love with the Lord for years now. My love keeps growing. And with my growing love for Him comes a growing desire to love and serve and please Him with all my heart.
The more time I spend alone with Jesus, the more I read the Bible, the more I pray and seek and hear and worship and praise and obey the Lord, the more I know Him, the more I love Him, the more I want to please Him, the more I want to bring Him joy, pleasure, love, glory, praise, and honor.
I want to make God proud that I am His daughter and servant. I want to make Him happy. Loving and pleasing and glorifying God and encouraging and helping and challenging and inspiring others to do the same, this is my heart’s cry!
Are you loving and serving the Lord with all your heart?
Do you hunger and thirst and long to please Jesus?
“Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.” Matthew 5:6
Please read what the apostle Paul says about pleasing the Lord.
“Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.” 1 Thessalonians 4:1
Let us love and serve and strive to please the Lord with every ounce of our hearts. Let us ever grow in this. Oh, may it be so!
