Know what the Lord told me to do one day concerning a big project? Unbelievable. Incredible. How could He possibly say this? Can you believe it? He said this:
“Put your whole heart into writing it,” His Holy Spirit who inhabits His followers told me.
Why should I put my whole heart into it? How could He ask this of me? I knew my history. I might end up putting my whole heart in it, going absolutely all out, working myself to the extreme, laboring immensely, going to any lengths, doing my very best in the strength and power He gave me, and then discover only a few people if any at all would read what I wrote! Imagine the audacity of God to ask such a thing of me! Right?
Oh, friend. Audacity? Imagine my audacity! Not God’s! Mine! Imagine my pride! Imagine YOUR PRIDE if you can relate in the least. How awful, how atrocious, how wrong, how wicked our hearts, our thoughts, when we pick and choose which work the Lord calls us to we believe we should put our whole hearts into! If any at all! As though we should pick and choose based on self! As though we shouldn’t put our whole heart into ALL to which He calls us!
Let me explain. JESUS CHRIST IS LORD. JESUS CHRIST IS GOD. GOD ALMIGHTY. We should PUT OUR WHOLE HEARTS INTO ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING TO WHICH THE LORD CALLS US NO MATTER WHAT WE THINK, FEEL, SEE, NO MATTER THE RESULTS, NO MATTER PEOPLE’S RESPONSES OR LACK THEREOF, NO MATTER HOW MUCH TIME INVOLVED, NO MATTER THE SACRIFICE NECESSARY, NO MATTER WHAT!
Why? BECAUSE HE IS LORD FOREVERMORE! And we who follow Jesus are HIS. We are to be WHOLLY HIS. Not in part. We are not to give Him part of our lives based on our wishes, ways, and wants. We are to SURRENDER OURSELVES ENTIRELY to HIM! Every ounce of our heart, body, mind, time, possessions, etc. included!
Truth is in my pride, at times I have felt like not putting my whole heart into my writing because I figured I should only do so if people read the books I write, if tons of people read the daily writing, etc. After all, what if I spent months writing a book only to find it never got read at all?
Truth? IT DOES NOT MATTER the outcome of our work for the Lord. What matters is THAT WE TRUST THE LORD AND OBEY THE LORD AND GIVE HIM 100% concerning ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING HE CALLS US TO DO FOR HIM AND FOR OTHERS!
Oh, how the Lord has humbled me! Is He humbling you now? Friend, whether He is calling you to clean the house for your husband, cook for your children, clean toilets in church buildings, write bestselling books about Him, preach to people in jungles who may never repent and turn to Him, call your mother and offer to buy her groceries and bring them to her, clean dirty cages in an animal shelter and share the Gospel with people adopting pets there, fold and staple Gospel tracts to be shipped around the United States knowing they could all be thrown in the trash, have what you consider to be the perfect job in the perfect place for the perfect salary, WHATEVER IT IS, NO MATTER ANY ASPECT OF IT WHATSOEVER, DO IT WITH YOUR WHOLE HEART FOR THE LORD.
Do it “HEARTILY” as you will see in the verses below for the Lord, oh yes!
Oh Father, forgive me! Forgive us all! Every single one of us who has had a bad attitude when it comes to serving you in absolutely anything! No matter how big nor small nor anything at all! For every time we have not put our whole hearts into whatever you call us to do, have mercy upon us, dear Father! And please, please, please Lord, use this message more than I can possibly fathom to bring us all to a place of total surrender. Not just once, but day by day and forevermore. Total surrender to you, dear Lord, AMEN!

“And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.” Colossians 3:23-24
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.” Romans 12:1
