Rain to End in 83 Minutes – What About Jesus?

3
This is how far technology has come, or this is far people think it has come anyway. In the midst of a major rainstorm that has already piled up several inches of pond in my back yard, I just learned the forecast is calling for 83 minutes more of rain. That’s right. Eighty-three minutes. Do you know what the Bible has to say about weather forecasts?

It’s plain, simple, and a hard truth. Jesus rebukes the people because they can look up at the sky and tell the weather forecast (and that’s without today’s 83-minute kind of technology), but can’t tell the signs of the times. So what about us? Is it possible that we have come this far in technology, or at least that we think we have come so incredibly far in technology and forecasting the weather, and yet we can’t tell the signs of our times?

The world is in dire straits, and the Bible is as clear as day what these signs mean. But if all the indicators abound that Jesus will return sooner than many believe, then why aren’t we getting ready? When was the last time you took a look at the state of your heart, and the state of your life, and took into consideration you might be facing the Lord a lot sooner than you think? Could even be in 83 minutes. Okay, maybe that’s not an altogether accurate forecast. But the warning is clear.
If you think preparing for a major rainstorm is wise, you might want to take into consideration that your eternal future is a lot more important than how many inches of rain are accumulating in your back yard. Where exactly will you be spending eternity? If you haven’t repented and placed your faith in Jesus, the forecast calls for hell.
And if you have repented and placed your faith in Jesus, and you’re headed in the direction of heaven, are you following Him with all your heart? Is it time to start getting your affairs in order, and making those changes that have been a long time coming? You may be headed for heaven, but we still will stand before the Judgment seat of Christ and give an account for what we did on this earth.
It’s one thing to watch the weather forecast. It’s another thing to be prepared. The forecast calls for this. Get your heart, and life, in order. Jesus might be coming sooner than you think. Are you ready?
“The Pharisees and Sadducees came up, and testing Jesus, they asked Him to show them a sign from heaven. 2But He replied to them, “When it is evening, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red.’ 3“And in the morning, ‘There will be a storm today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ Do you know how to discern the appearance of the sky, but cannot discern the signs of the times? 4“An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign; and a sign will not be given it, except the sign of Jonah.” And He left them and went away.” Matthew 16:1-4 NASB

“Now after John had been taken into custody, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God, 15and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”” Jesus 1:14-15 NASB

“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.” 2 Corinthians 5:10 NASB
