TODAY’S LITTLE LETTER FROM LARA

Dear friend,

In my experience, one of Satan’s greatest tactics is to get Christ’s followers so discouraged and down and depressed that we want to run and hide under the covers of our beds and distance ourselves from God as we become convinced we’re too far gone, too messed up, too broken, too hurting, too hopeless, too whatever, to be of any use to the Lord and to others. This is a very dangerous business when we listen to the enemy’s lies and fall into such a state. I should know! I have far too much experience falling for this dangerous bait of Satan’s.Just this very day, I fell back – and down – and hard – into a sin I have desperately wanted to be permanently free from because it BREAKS MY HEART to hurt the Lord, to hurt others, and to hurt my doggies. I lost my patience and temper. Even as I was desperately trying to follow the Lord and do what was right, and to use the method He had given me to not fall into that ugly despicable old sin, I fell. Ugh! It was horrible! I was appalled! Devastated even. Sure enough, next thing I knew was I figured I couldn’t serve the Lord today – or maybe even ever again!

Instead, I followed the prompting of the Spirit of God. I REPENTED. I SOUGHT GOD’S FORGIVENESS. I RECEIVED GOD’S FORGIVENESS. I RECEIVED LOVE, PRAYER, HELP, AND ENCOURAGEMENT FROM FELLOW BELIEVERS IN CHRIST. AND I KNEW I NEEDED TO WALK FORWARD FOLLOWING JESUS!

Friend, please don’t fall for Satan’s lies. If you’ve fallen backward, and down, and hard, as I did today, please don’t stay on the ground. Run for Jesus, seek God’s forgiveness through faith in Christ, receive His mercy, and in God’s love, strength, and grace, walk forward following Jesus. For the glory of God, amen!

TODAY’S DAILY INSPIRATION

When Voices Try to Stop Us!
““Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord,
And whose hope is the Lord.
For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters,
Which spreads out its roots by the river,
And will not fear when heat comes;
But its leaf will be green,
And will not be anxious in the year of drought,
Nor will cease from yielding fruit.” Jeremiah 17:7-8Finding housing in New York City especially with a crew of special needs service ministry dogs seems impossible, but I know from the Bible and my own life story and from the stories of many others that God can do the impossible. So I put my trust in Him even when things look and feel impossible. Last year, the Lord provided just the perfect place and location for me and the ministry’s dogs for 6 months of streets ministry in New York City. Now He’s sending me back – with the same challenge. Finding housing. Seemingly impossible. One thing I’ve experienced along the way when it comes to trusting the Lord to do the impossible – which He does when it’s HIS WILL for HIS GLORY – is that people sometimes come along to discourage us. To say to us, “No way!” “You’re crazy!” “Give up now!” “You can’t trust God!” “You’ll never make it!” “Don’t waste your time!” And lots more.

Friend, when we’re clear the Lord is leading us somewhere, or to something, or to someone, we need to NOT bow down to the voices of those who try to discourage us, whether they are well-meaning or not. We need to PUT OUR TRUST IN THE LORD and follow Him forward as He lovingly leads us and provides for us in order to DO HIS WILL for HIS GLORY!

Feeling discouraged because someone or some people have tried to convince you to turn away from the Lord and His will? Be faithful to the Lord, friend. Hear His voice. Follow Him forth! Put your trust in the Lord. And whatever He is calling you to, do it for HIS GLORY! AMEN!

TODAY’S 365 BLESSINGS

365 BLESSINGS is a devotional book the Lord has led me to publish piece by piece even as I’m writing it rather than waiting until it’s in print to share it. Please join me & be blessed as I write my latest book…!

Blessing #39

“the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.” John 14:17

The Lord has so many names, and one of them is the Spirit of truth. There is no greater truth than the Lord Himself and His Word. He is the way, TRUTH, and life per John 14:6, His Word is TRUTH, He is THE WORD, and His Spirit is TRUTH. The Lord is all about TRUTH, isn’t He? But truth isn’t just about something intangible that we can’t see and touch as though it’s knowledge and nothing more. The SPIRIT OF TRUTH lives with those of us who follow Jesus. And He doesn’t just live WITH us. He is IN us! Remarkable, absolutely remarkable, isn’t it? That living inside those of us who believe in Jesus as Lord is THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH. How far do we need to go to learn about truth when it comes to Jesus? We can simply open up His Word and read it, and His Spirit of Truth inside us can teach it to us and help us to live by it! Oh, what a blessing is God’s TRUTH! Amen!

TODAY’S THE CROSS DEVOTIONAL

One Step Closer

“that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.” Ephesians 3:16-19

Being on the road for Jesus full-time with the ministry’s special needs doggies doing streets ministry in this modern day wild and crazy world so much of which has its back turned on the Lord and His ways makes it even harder when I reach out for help with something and hear the word “NO!” in response. As if I don’t have enough stress and challenge and spiritual warfare to face in the first place, I also have the added challenge of being told “NO!” when I so long to hear, “YES!”

For example, when I am calling hotels to see if they will accept me and the ministry’s special needs doggies, how disheartening when I hear, “NO!” Or, when I seek an apartment once again in New York City, and I hear, “NO!”, how upsetting when I so want to hear a big happy joyful welcoming “YES!”

I am learning to hear, “NO!” in a new way now. As ONE STEP CLOSER to the will of the Lord! See, when someone tells me “NO!” with something, I am one step closer to wherever the Lord is leading me, to whomever the Lord is leading me, to whatever the Lord is leading me, etc. Sure, I would LOVE for everything to be easy – or at least a lot easier than it is. But it’s not always easy, and sometimes, if not often, it’s downright incredibly hard.

But the Lord reminds me what matters most is THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, THE BIBLE, GOD’S WILL, GOD’S WAYS, AND GOD’S GLORY! So when I hear, “NO!” from someone or something in this world, I can look to the Lord and to His Word and to rest assured I am one step closer to GOD’S YES!

I am sad to confess so many times, I have taken hearing “NO!” as though the Lord is not loving me, as though the Lord is not blessing me, as though the Lord is not caring for me, as though the Lord is not providing for me. But this is not true!

God’s will and ways and glory are ALWAYS BEST, and in His intimate personal caring comforting merciful graceful, gracious, and generous love for His children, He will sometimes allow a bunch of “NO’s” on the way to leading us to His “YES!”

This doesn’t mean it’s not super hard along the way as we get to His “YES!”, but it’s comforting to remember His amazingly awesome indescribably wonderful love for His followers!

TODAY’S SERVING JESUS IN YOUR EVERYDAY LIFE

I Am Not a Prostitute“So I said, ‘Who are You, Lord?’ And He said, ‘I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. But rise and stand on your feet; for I have appeared to you for this purpose, to make you a minister and a witness both of the things which you have seen and of the things which I will yet reveal to you. I will deliver you from the Jewish people, as well as from the Gentiles, to whom I now send you, to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.’

“Therefore, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision, but declared first to those in Damascus and in Jerusalem, and throughout all the region of Judea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent, turn to God, and do works befitting repentance.” Acts 26:16-20

Just one day after a sister in the Lord suggested I write more about my experiences doing streets ministry, and after I explained I do my best to write what the Lord gives me to write rather than to let my flesh run the show, the Lord placed on my heart to write something that occurred on the street. This very day. Just an hour or so ago in fact. And I wasn’t out ministering to others this time. I had a beloved friend on the phone ministering to me!

As I talked on the phone with my friend about what the Lord was showing me in the way of the battle in which I have been embroiled over the past few weeks, a man called out to me from where he sat in his car on the side of the road. I couldn’t hear him from the distance where I stood, not especially with traffic going by. I walked a little closer to his car as I stayed on the phone. Then I understood what he was saying.

He was inviting me into his car to go off with him. Know why? He thought I was a prostitute! My answer was immediate.

“Sir, I’m on the telephone. I’m a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ!”

As soon as I said the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, the man immediately shut down and drove away. He knew he was done. He knew not to mess with the Lord. I believe he was convicted as he drove away. I am only sorry I didn’t give him a Gospel tract but hadn’t had enough time nor felt led to do so. Still, he had the most important thing of all. The name of Jesus!

Long ago, I dressed like a prostitute and in many ways acted like one. That was before the Lord Jesus Christ took control over my life. Long ago, I might have enjoyed the attention and invitation I received today. Not now, no way. If you think I was totally disgusted and angry and offended when this happened today, you are mistaken.

What I felt was heartbroken. That yet another soul on this earth has his back turned on the Lord Jesus Christ and needs to repent and turn to Christ as Lord and Savior of his life. Like countless people around the world whose backs are turned to Jesus.

Father, in Jesus’ precious name, I pray you would bring this man to repentance and bring him into your Kingdom and help him to flee sexual immorality and to turn lose all his sins and to throw his arms around you and your Word and to henceforth live for you now and forever and to spend the rest of his time on this earth chasing after you and using that old car to drive around and tell people that you, Jesus, are the only way to eternal life. In Jesus’ name, AMEN!

Friend, we have endless opportunities to tell people about Jesus and to pray for people to place their faith in Jesus who died on the cross to pay our sin penalty and was raised from the dead, truly surrendering their hearts and lives to God and His ways – now and forever, AMEN!

The Lord in the verses above called the apostle Paul to call people to repent from their sins and show forth in their lives the fruit of repentance, i.e. lives surrendered to God and His ways! Let us, fellow Christ followers, serve the Lord in proclaiming Christ as Lord to the world and around us and helping people to understand we all must repent from our sins and turn to God and His ways or face forever in torment in hell and the lake of fire. For the glory of the Lord God almighty, let us proclaim the truth about Jesus forever Lord, AMEN!

LATEST MINISTRY UPDATE & PRAYER REQUEST

I am still in the Appalachian area of West Virginia as I seek the Lord about the timing of my move northward toward New York City.

It’s been a hard few weeks here, and that’s an extreme understatement, but I praise the Lord for the fruit of many lives in the area who have been reached for Christ!

Please pray as you are led.

Love you all!

Jesus’ servant, lara
