Seeing With New Eyes

0
I have known for some time I probably need an eye exam and a new eyeglass prescription, but I did not realize until the Lord spoke to me yesterday how much I needed a new prescription for the eyes of my heart.

“Don’t measure with your eyes. Love with you heart,” the Lord said to me.

I had been measuring someone up with a judgment I was making with my human eyes, thereby assessing the person and situation with criticism and condemnation. God was calling me to repent from my sin and to love the person instead with the new heart He has given me – with the love, mercy, forgiveness, and compassion He pours into me through His Holy Spirit.

God wanted me to see the person with new eyes in order to love the person with my new heart. What freedom I found when I put on my new eyeglasses and saw the person with my new heart. Instead of judging the person for falling short, I realized in retrospect that I could help make up for the person’s shortfall by pouring out what the Lord has so abundantly given me – Himself.

Luk 6:37  “Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:
Luk 6:38  Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.”
