Picking on, nagging, criticizing, judging, condemning, trying to control and manipulate, pushing, pressuring, bossing, bullying, losing your temper on, yelling and screaming at, cursing at, physically abusing, forcing yourself sexually on, using pornography, committing adultery against, etc. your spouse is all sin against your spouse and the Lord God almighty.
Please don’t stop at saying sorry. Don’t merely seek God’s forgiveness and apologize to your spouse. Do the right thing in God’s eyes.
Be genuinely sorry for your sin. Follow up your apology with a change in behavior. Ask God for the help and strength you need to go forward with the love, grace, mercy, kindness, care, compassion, goodness etc. of the Lord Jesus Christ toward your spouse and leave the sin behind.
Please don’t think nobody is watching what you are doing behind closed doors with your spouse. God sees and knows it all.
Now is the time to repent and turn to Jesus. Cry out to God in prayer for God by His Holy Spirit to change you, to grow you, and to enable and empower you to treat your spouse in a way that honors and glorifies God and demonstrates His love to your spouse.
Hallelujah, glory be to the Lord, AMEN!
There are plenty of Bible verses on marriage, and I encourage you to read and study and live by them if you are married. And there are many verses simply on the love we are to have one for another married or not. Here are just a few to get you started!
“Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.” Ephesians 5:33 NKJV
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.” John 13:34 NKJV
