Sticking With Your Purpose

0

When the crowd tried to get Jesus to stay with them rather than move on, Jesus told them He needed to move on to fulfill His purpose. The Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, God in the flesh in His time on this earth, was determined to fulfill His purpose for God the Father. He was fully committed to stick with His God-given purpose and not let anything or anyone including Himself get Him off track.

Can the same be said of you and me?

Our primary purpose on earth is to love, honor, praise, worship, obey, serve, and glorify the Lord, and the Lord gives each of us an individual purpose as well. We can pray, cry out to God, pray and fast when the Lord leads us to fast, read the Bible, and listen for the voice of the Holy Spirit who lives in His followers speaking to our hearts to know God’s purpose for us.

God may give us a purpose for our whole lives. Or a purpose for the next 10 minutes. Or a purpose for this next season of our lives. Or a purpose with a particular person. Or a purpose in our neighborhood. Or a purpose in our workplace. Or a purpose in a church congregation.

Whatever God’s purpose, for however long His purpose is, we are to humble ourselves before God almighty and stick with it and fulfill it.

Sometimes the devil, our human flesh and its own desires, and other people even well-meaning ones will tempt us to stray from God’s purpose for us.

Friend, let us seek, find, stick with, and fulfill God’s purpose for us, Hallelujah!

Please note in the following verses how Jesus sticks with His purpose!

“Now when it was day, He departed and went into a deserted place. And the crowd sought Him and came to Him, and tried to keep Him from leaving them; but He said to them, “I must preach the kingdom of God to the other cities also, because for this purpose I have been sent.” And He was preaching in the synagogues of Galilee.” Luke 4:42-44 NKJV
