Stop Standing Outside the Door

0

“I opened the door,” the Lord spoke to my heart. “Walk through it.”

He was reminding me of an opportunity He had given me to help someone have a forever relationship with Him. Though I so much wanted to help the person, I had so incredibly much to do thanks to the Lord blessedly giving me tons of other opportunities in my ministry work for Him as well. Now He was making clear it was very important I not miss this opportunity He had given me.

Sometimes God opens the door and gives us wonderful opportunities to love and serve Him and to love and serve others in His name, but we stand outside the door and don’t walk through it and obey Him concerning the opportunities He gives us and to which He clearly leads us.  Sometimes, for whatever reason(s), we choose not to obey Him.

We may be afraid to walk through the door and follow His lead. We may be too busy. Not interested. Distracted. Not wanting to help someone. Not wanting to make the sacrifice involved. Too self-absorbed. Going the way of the devil’s temptations instead. Feeling overwhelmed. Not wanting to take a risk. Feeling like we won’t know what to do, how to handle the situation, what to say, etc. Not wanting to be ridiculed, rejected, or persecuted by people. We want to stay where we’re comfortable. We want to hold onto the familiar. We don’t feel strong enough. Whatever the reason, we may be unwilling to pay the cost of going through the door God has lovingly. Blessedly and mercifully opened. So we don’t obey the Lord.

Friend, are you standing outside the door? Are you clear through prayer, spending time in God’s presence, studying the Bible, and if/as the Lord leads seeking wise counsel from God’s followers that God is calling you to an opportunity? Are you clear God has opened the door and the time is now to obey Him and walk through it and fulfill His will for you regarding the opportunity?

Are you standing outside the door and refusing to walk through it? Are you holding back? Standing back? Looking the wrong way and not even seeing the opportunity?

Please, I beg you, humble yourself before the Lord God almighty, pray and look to Him for His love, grace, mercy, direction, power, and strength. Ask for a fresh filling of His Holy Spirit assuming you are a Jesus follower. And walk through that door. Be diligent. Be faithful. Be steadfast. Be strong. Be courageous and bold by the power of the Holy Spirit of God. Do what God tells you to do. Obey Him. For the glory of Christ, hallelujah, YES! Amen!
