“Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.” Ephesians 5:1-2
“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.” Psalm 19:14
“Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.” Ephesians 4:29
“A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.” Luke 6:45
God calls us to “walk in love,” in other words to live our lives rooted and grounded in Christ’s love (Ephesians 3:17), but God also calls us to talk in love. His greatest command is to love Him with all our hearts, and His second greatest command is to love others as ourselves. Our very lifestyle is to be one of love toward Him and others, and the words that come out of our mouths are NOT to be excluded. Our words are to be included in a lifestyle of reflecting Christ’s love.
All of this begins with a pure heart. As soon as our hearts begin to get clogged up with the sins of pride, bitterness, envy, fear, worry, doubt, anger, judgment, condemnation, vengeance, rage, spite, criticism, etc., not only will this ultimately affect our actions if we don’t repent from these sins in our hearts. Our words will also be affected.
May this be a reminder to us all we should be ever on guard to keep our HEARTS, our ACTIONS, and our WORDS clean, pure, and demonstrating the LOVE OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST! May our words honor and please the Lord and show others the love of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!
