The Lord never ceases to amaze me. Though I had felt He would send me in one direction on a particular day in my latest location on the road full-time for Him, He had other plans. I sensed He wanted me to pack my beloved ministry dogs in the car and make the 25 minute drive to Jacksonville Beach, Florida. I also sensed I needed to hurry up and get there. I got ready to go. Off I drove. I planned to park in the only place familiar to me at the beach, but God led me down a seemingly random street to park there. I got the dogs out of the car, put Miss Mercy in her wheelchair, and noticed only person around. A woman with a t-shirt saying she had a heart attack.
Long story short, I had a wonderful opportunity to love her, talk with her about the Lord in whom she already believed, encourage her, pray for her several times, and give her my Finding the Light gospel tract including my personal story. She shared how very recently she had suffered a heart attack with no humans around. God had saved her life. As she talked with me, she made reference to being “attacked”. I shared with her how God recently saved my life and saved me from major injury when I was “attacked” in a violent assault on the streets of New York City.
Then I told her what I feel desperate to share with you now. GOD SAVES OUR LIVES FOR A PURPOSE. When we turn from our sins, believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and in His death and resurrection, truly turning our lives over to God and His ways, God saves us from eternity in hell and the lake of fire. He forgives us, gives us a forever relationship with Himself, and His Holy Spirit comes to live in us. As so many of us can attest to, He also saves us throughout our lives from so many other things along the way.
Though we are so exceedingly blessed in the process of God saving us in all the ways He saves us, first and foremost He saves us to love, serve, honor, praise, worship, adore, revere, obey, follow, and glorify Him forever; to love Him with all our hearts and to love each other; to help others to believe in and turn to and follow Jesus Christ as Lord, AND TO FULFILL THE INDIVIDUAL PURPOSE HE GIVES EACH OF US.
Two women recently “attacked”. Two women saved by God. Two women brought together by Him. Two women saved by God to fulfill our purpose for Him.
Friend, no matter our stories, no matter what God saves us from in our lifetime, He created us all for His purpose for His glory. Let us all surrender ourselves 100% to the Lord and His ways and His will for our lives that we may go forth day by day striving to fulfill the purpose He has for each and every one of our lives. Hallelujah! Above all else, always living to bring love, joy, pleasure, honor, praise, worship, and glory to the Lord God almighty forever and ever, AMEN!
“who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began,” 2 Timothy 1:9 NKJV
