Thank God for Toothpaste

Thank God for Toothpaste

“Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving…” Psalm 95:2

I had woken in the middle of the night yet again. I’m someone who doesn’t do well without enough sleep. But this time instead of finding myself cranky and irritable, I was so very thankful.  For toothpaste of all things! And that was not all…

For as I brushed my teeth and experienced the incredibly fresh and clean sensation of a special new toothpaste I had recently bought, enjoying how my very mouth seemed to wake up with the freshness of it, I felt so very thankful. Realizing, remembering, acknowledging, that the Lord has blessed me with so very much – right down to toothpaste. Within a short period, I felt thankful to the Lord for the clean water I used to brush my teeth, for good teeth, for my Mom taking such good care of my teeth when I was a little girl, for my health, for the food I can eat with my teeth, for being nourished with that food, for the nourishment of God’s Word which I “eat” daily, and off I went to the computer – yes, in the middle of the night. To bring this message to others that it’s not just the big, the enormous, the exceedingly over-the-top things in life for which we should be thankful to the Lord. We should be thankful to the Lord for ALL things, no matter how seemingly infinitesimally small nor how seemingly immeasurably indescribably big.

How much we take for granted, it seems. Countless people don’t have a toothbrush, toothpaste, and clean running water let alone healthy teeth, and food to fill their bellies, and health and strength to go through their daily lives. But is it not true some of us so take all of this for granted, and/or take other blessings from the Lord for granted perhaps? Should we not be THANKFUL for absolutely everything with which the Lord blesses us – right down to toothpaste on a toothbrush with clean running water to brush our teeth for those blessed to have this?

Most of all, should we not be thankful for almighty God who created us, for almighty God who provides for us daily, and almighty God who sent His only begotten Son to the cross to die for our sins and the penalty of death, hell, and the lake of fire forever apart from God in eternal torment so all who repent of our sins, believe in Christ as Son of God and Lord who died for us and was raised from the dead, truly devoting our lives to Christ forever, are forgiven and given an everlasting relationship with God?

Yes, we should be thankful! At all times. For all the Lord’s endless blessings. Most of all, for Himself! Lord of Lords, King of Kings, Creator of the universe, Father in heaven, Savior and redeemer, healer and master, oh, how blessed is the Lord, oh, thank you Lord for your blessings! Thank you Lord!
