I have a beloved long-time friend who is a glory giver. Ever known a glory giver? Are you a glory giver? Know what a glory giver is? I had never heard the term to the best of my recollection until the words landed in my heart one day courtesy of the Holy Spirit I can only imagine. Being that the Lord is all about His children being glory givers. Please consider the following verse before I tell you about my friend the glory giver.
“Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth’s sake.” Psalms 115:1
Every time I talk to my friend, no matter what goodness she shares with me she is enjoying in her life, she ALWAYS gives God the glory. I cannot recall her ever taking credit for anything good in her life. Not only does she humbly refuse to give glory to herself, but she also never misses an opportunity to give glory to God for the goodness in her life. She is constantly telling me about all the wonderful blessings the Lord bestows upon her from the smallest of things to the biggest. She joyfully gives Him praise. She enthusiastically gives Him honor. She happily and merrily gives Him glory.
My friend loves to give testimony of all the good the Lord does in her life, and most of all she loves to give glory to God for how amazingly awesomely wonderfully marvelously magnificently gloriously splendidly phenomenally beautiful He is!
Her joyful glory giving is convicting, inspiring, and contagious!
Makes me even as I write this think of how often I fall short in being a glory giver and how resolved I am now to go forward being a glory giver!
Convicted? Inspired? Resolved? May it be so! Let us be glory givers, friend! Amen!
“Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.” Psalms 40:5
