They Are LYING to YOU!

Ouch. It’s hard to write. And it may be hard to hear. But this must be said. They are LYING to YOU! Thus saith the Lord. Thus saith the Lord. There are most assuredly men and women of God solidly grounded in the Bible who are genuinely called by God to prophesy His Truth according to His Word to warn, teach, rebuke, instruct, encourage, etc. as messengers from God. But there are also liars. Deceivers. False prophets. False teachers. Beware! Beware! Watch out for people claiming to speak for God as they promise peace and prosperity, riches and rewards, happily ever after on earth and wishes come true. Watch out for those running around throwing “Jesus loves you, Jesus loves you” in your face without telling you the whole story. Deception is deceptive. It looks all pretty all packaged up with big red ribbons on top. Enticing. Alluring. Seductive. Tempting. Comfortable. Cozy. Deadly.

Yes, Jesus loves you. But that’s not the whole story. This world is destroying itself in its wickedness, its depravity, its sins it refuses to repent of, its rejection of Jesus Christ, savior of the world, its refusal to bow down before the only true God, God almighty. Jesus loves you, BUT. Jesus offers you peace, BUT. And prosperity, BUT. And riches, BUT. And happily ever after, BUT. God loves you, BUT He despises sin. We are all headed to hell because we cannot be in His presence because of our sin. There is only ONE way out. Only ONE way to change the direction this world is headed. Through Christ.

We must repent of our wickedness and place our faith in Christ who died on the cross to pay the death penalty for our sins. And the peace and prosperity and riches God promises us are NOT earthly. Sure, some of us may have some of it. But it is all ephemeral. All fleeting. And many will not know it on this earth at all, not the earthly kind of it anyway. What we can be sure of on this earth is that we will have this. Tribulations. Not magic wand happily ever after enjoy every moment of our lives on earth kind of lives. Tribulations. But Jesus said we could “be of good cheer” anyway. Why? Because He has overcome the grave. He was raised from the dead. He has overcome the world. And we can overcome it in Him. By repenting of our sins, believing in Him, denying ourselves of our worldly ways, taking up our crosses and nailing our wickedness to the cross, and accompany Him. Following Him. In God’s ways.

And we can have peace in Christ, and the riches of God’s love, mercy, forgiveness, His peace, His comfort, His grace, His, His, His. Not the world’s. Who is lying to you, my friend? Has someone waved a magic wand in your face and told you God will answer your prayers and give you anything you want? Beware of false prophets! Beware of those telling you if you do enough good deeds, you can rest assured you have a free ticket to heaven. There are no free tickets to heaven. None. Jesus paid the price. And our only salvation is not in anything we can do. It’s in HIM! Through HIM! By believing in and following HIM!

And if someone is flinging in your face, “Thus saith the Lord,” that all is well and good in your life, that your wishes will come true, that God is perfectly content and happy with you now that you go to church on Sundays or ran to the altar 25 years ago in an incredibly emotional experience you never bothered to follow up with truly godly living as the Bible teaches, they are lying to you! Lies, lies, lies! We are called to believe in Christ – AND obey! We are called to be set apart from the world, to become holy as God is holy, to grow in HIS image, not the world’s. Don’t let any fancily dressed preacher driving to church in his pretty pink Cadillac – or your next door neighbor, or your mother, or anyone in the entire world, convince you that all is well because when people ask you, you tell them you believe in God. Real faith, genuine faith, is followed by action – the action of denying your ways and following Jesus.

Beware of the lies someone might be telling you. Repent and believe the Gospel. Place your trust in Christ. Live for the Lord. Open the Bible and know the Truth. Don’t believe the lies any longer. Believe the Truth. Only His Truth will set you free. And no peace, prosperity, riches, wealth, or anything you will ever find on this earth will ever come close to comparing to the majesty of the greatest treasure in the universe. The Lord God almighty!

Jer 29:8  For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Let not your prophets and your diviners, that be in the midst of you, deceive you, neither hearken to your dreams which ye cause to be dreamed. 
Jer 29:9  For they prophesy falsely unto you in my name: I have not sent them, saith the LORD. 

Mat 7:15  Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. 

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. John 16:33
