Think You Know Better than God?

“I think I should do [such-and-such] today,” I thought.

Immediately the Holy Spirit interrupted my thoughts.

“Do you think you know better than I do?” I sensed the Lord essentially ask me.

He silenced me with His question. How could I answer but with the truth.

There was no need to reply. He and I both knew the truth.

Over and again, the Lord had made clear He did not want me to go do something I typically did on that day of the week. He spoke to my heart what He wanted me to do instead. Despite hearing God in my heart, I kept considering going anyway and trying to justify why I should go.

Now God had brought me to the root of the problem. Sin. One particular sin with which I believe we all battle each and every day to one degree or another. PRIDE.

In this particular case, thinking I knew better than the Lord Jesus Christ.

I knew what to do. Repent. Humble myself. Submit to God and to His will for the day. And get back in my heart and with my words and actions to what is absolutely always true.

Jesus always, absolutely always, knows best! And He is Lord. And we are to always, absolutely always, humbly and reverently OBEY THE LORD!

“Everyone proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD;…” Proverbs 16:5 NKJV

“Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall.” Proverbs 16:18 NKJV
