This Is Not Loving

Imagine if the person you love most in the world who loves you most in the world spent time with you only by obligation, without any sincere interest or true passion as though you were nothing more than a word on a To-Do list to cross off each day, mostly distracted and only doing stuff with you and for you in a cold, mechanical, ritualistic, programmed, heartless kind of way!

Heartbreaking and tragically, this is how some of us spend time alone with the Lord Jesus Christ if we spend time with the Lord at all as though being in God’s presence is nothing more than a religious I-have-to-do-this-but-let-me-get-it-over-with activity, and I have fallen into this myself over the years when not careful.

Having a personal forever relationship with God is the greatest privilege in the world, and our time with God should be filled with genuine love, devotion, passion, praise, worship, crying out to Him, repentance, pouring out our hearts to Him, praying, seeking Him, reading the Bible, singing to Him, dancing before Him, experiencing Him, enjoying Him, hearing Him, and/or anything else that brings joy, honor, pleasure, and glory to God almighty!

Rest assured we will be blessed immeasurably when we focus on loving, magnifying, exalting, and glorifying the Lord in time alone with Him!

“Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying: ‘THESE PEOPLE DRAW NEAR TO ME WITH THEIR MOUTH, AND HONOR ME WITH THEIR LIPS, BUT THEIR HEART IS FAR FROM ME. AND IN VAIN THEY WORSHIP ME, TEACHING AS DOCTRINES THE COMMANDMENTS OF MEN.’ “” Matthew 15:7-9 NKJV

“Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father. You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”” John 4:21-24 NKJV
