This Is So Beautiful!

“Oh my gosh how beautiful! Thank you Jesus!” I exclaimed aloud as I looked up at a small portion of sky far above the ugly major highway beneath it.

It was such a tiny piece of beautiful sky when compared with the ugly highway and everything else in that area for that matter.

But in those moments I looked upward past all the ugliness of the highway, of that whole area, past decades of major personal trials and struggles, past the dire straits this world is in, and past the intensity and emotions of my ministry work. And I simply beheld and enjoyed the beauty of the sky.

So colorful. Vibrant. Bright. Pinks. Purple-y. Pastel. As though God had gone to extra lengths on the sky as His canvas to make known His majesty, His loveliness, His care, His creativity, His power, His magnificence, His splendor, His sovereignty over all things.

I have spent too much of my life focused on and down and miserable about the ugly and hard things in my own life and in this world and missed out greatly on beholding and enjoying God and His beauty and His endless blessings.

Friend, I believe we need to learn to look upward past the ugly and hard to the beauty of the Lord Jesus Christ and to the beauty of the Bible and to the beauty of all the blessings God bestows upon us each and every day – and to thank, bless, and praise the Lord!

I am working hard on learning to focus on Jesus and the Bible and on His blessings and to praise, praise, praise the Lord! Will you join me?

“Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.”  2 Corinthians 4:16-18 NKJV

“…The heavens declare the glory of  God; And the firmament shows His handiwork.” Psalms 19:1 NKJV

“One thing I have desired of the LORD, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the LORD, And to inquire in His temple.” Psalms 27:4 NKJV

“If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.” Colossians 3:1-2 NKJV
