Want More?

“O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.” Psalm 34:8

Ever wanted more of something? Something you love? Something delicious? That you feel you can’t get enough of? That makes you feel good? That you feel you can’t or don’t want to live without? That you’re convinced is good for you? Or bad for you? We live in a give-me-more world. The more I want, the more I get, the more I want. Seems never ending. But more always runs out. Or, what we want more of, we can’t get more of. Discouraging, disheartening, depressing, disappointing. Once we’ve tasted something we love, how we yearn for more!

What if you discovered everything you’ve always wanted more of, all put together, if you could have all of it in the whole world, right now, and for the rest of your life, didn’t come one iota close to comparing to the one thing you truly can have more of forever? If you don’t believe there is such a thing, and haven’t been experiencing this, and don’t have the hope you can experience this for eternity, then perhaps you’re stuck in the more-s of this life, of this world, and missing the greatest more that ever was, is, and will be. Will you sacrifice your earthly more’s for this one?

No matter how long you may have believed in God, professed Christ as Lord, gone to church, studied your Bible, or served God, you may be missing what I missed for years no matter how wrapped up I was in Christianity. I was missing Christ. A deeply personal, intimate, ever-closer, ever more fulfilling, more exciting, more refreshing, more inviting, more compelling, more engaging, more passionate, more splendorous, ever closer, ever more intimate, life-changing relationship with the Lord.

I have this today. How did I get here? Yes, I repented and believe Christ died for my sins and is Lord. Yes, I am forgiven, born again, and have the promise of eternal life with God. But that’s not how I got to such amazing intimacy. Nor is it because I pray, read my Bible, go to church, and serve God. It’s because I finally gave up my life and realize it belongs to Christ. I stopped living for me and started living for Him. I am learning to lay down what I want and choose what He wants. I don’t just read the Bible. I live by it. I die to self. Daily. I seek God with my time, heart, attention, hunger, yearning, in prayer, conversation, with my mind, decisions. I speak to Him constantly and listen continually. For His voice. His leading. Committed to follow Him. I praise Him. Worship Him. Breathe for Him. Continually. I come to His well of salvation (Is. 12:3) and drink constantly, steadily, steadfastly. I sit at Christ’s feet. His table. I crave more of Him endlessly. He ever gives me more of Himself. Know this love for Him? His love for you? Want more? Cry out to Christ!
