Do you Want to Please God?

“Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.” 1 Thess. 4:1

Are you pleasing God? Do you want to please God? How can you say you love God but not want to please Him? Or do you not love Him? If you know God intimately, personally, up close, ever growing closer to Him, I daresay you cannot not love God. You would love Him undoubtedly. You would love Him abundantly. You would love Him beyond measure. You would love Him increasingly. For the more you knew Him, the more you know Him, the more you will love Him. The one true God. How could you not love the most awesome, amazing, magnificent, glorious, holy, righteous, perfect, lovely, kind, patient, merciful, life-giving, life-saving, life-changing, breathtaking, majestic, Lord, King, Savior, healer, lover, gentle, honest, faithful, true, and on and on, being in the universe ever? You would, and you will, if you come to know Him. Come follow Jesus! You will love Him immeasurably, everlastingly, and live to please Him. If you come to repent of your sins, believe in Jesus as Lord, and follow Him forever. Come to know Jesus. Come to follow Jesus! Live to please the Lord!

It is then you would desire to please Him evermore, for His love for you and your growing intimacy with Him as you ever love Him, the love you would and will have for one another, borne of it will be a desire to strive to live to love and worship and please Him forever. If you desire to please yourself, or to please others, more than you desire to please God, is it possible then you do not know God? Is it possible you call Jesus Lord but do not truly consider Him Lord and act as though He truly is, or that you do not call Jesus Lord at all? Oh what you’re missing! Sure it’s hard on the flesh to learn to deny oneself and say no to one’s own desires when they run contrary to God and His will and ways, and to choose His will instead, but oh, the joy, the hope, the beauty of living to please God almighty through the Lord Jesus Christ. To live and breathe to love and please Him!

So you who say you love Him, do you desire to please yourself or others more than you desire to please God? Get things in their right order. God first in all things. Including when it comes to pleasing. Please Him first. His greatest command is to love Him. If we are obeying His highest command, most assuredly we are living our lives to please Him. If your life is not in order, now is the time to turn things around. Turn to Him, oh, turn to the Lord! Let today be a day of turning. Of turning to God above!
