But I Want to Spend Time with You God!

“And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.” Mt. 28:18-20…………………..

The morning the Lord caught me off guard by sending me to the computer to write rather than wanting me to go on my usual morning walk to spend more time with Him as I’d already had alone time with Him studying His Word and seeking and hearing Him in the middle of the night did not just bear the message of how important it is to not allow spending time with God to become a regimented “ritual” whereby it becomes something on our “to-do list” at a set time of day to “accomplish”, but there was a second message also exceedingly important.

Those of us who love the Lord like I do, and are truly totally devoted to Him, can fall into becoming “possessive” with and “selfish” with and even hoard to ourselves our alone time with Him and our relationship with Him overall not to mention the blessings He bestows upon us daily both spiritually and physically.

My immediate response when I sensed the Lord leading me to the computer rather than to take a walk with Him as I usually did early in the morning was this:

“But I want to spend time with you God!” I told Him in my heart.

Not only was I getting confronted with the reminder I should not let my time alone with Him be rigid and set in stone as though it’s nothing more than something occupying yet another spot in a calendar book, but the Lord was reminding me of something else.

The Lord blesses us with His fellowship, with a forever relationship with Him through repentance and faith in Christ as Lord for those who truly commit their lives to Him, and with countless other blessings each and every day NOT JUST FOR OURSELVES – but so He can use His followers to help build His Kingdom by sharing the Gospel message and by loving, encouraging, praying for, ministering to, giving to, sharing with, and, most of all, loving in His name others! Yes, others!

If you have come to find as I have the indescribably immeasurably unfathomably beautiful and delightful and lovely and amazing and awesome and ever-growing deeply splendorous intimate relationship with Christ He offers us for those who yield their lives utterly to Jesus Christ as LORD and SAVIOR, redeemer, healer, restorer, teacher, Father, master, and everything else He gloriously is to His followers, you may be tempted as I believe all of us who know Him in this way may be to want to hoard the Lord to yourself. To enjoy Him for yourself. To receive from Him for yourself. To partake of Him for yourself. To commune with Him for yourself. To have what He provides you with for yourself.

“But I want to spend time with you God!” I told the Lord that day.

The Lord reminded me, and I am here to tell you now, that there is a time and place to enjoy personal fellowship with, alone time with, the Lord! And how awesomely amazing this is! But there is also a time and a place as His Spirit leads us to be wholly available to the world around us to pour out onto others the endless blessings He pours into us.

The Lord wanted me to go to my computer to write because writing is a vehicle He has given me and gifted me with to tell the world about Him and to help people like yourself to believe in and follow Him daily and forever. And so it was that day He wanted me to take what He ever pours into me to pour out onto you who are reading this and others.

Please be vigilant, utterly dedicated, to spending alone time with the Lord and His Word EVERY SINGLE DAY. But also please be vigilant, utterly dedicated, as His Spirit leads you, to going out into the world and pouring out what the Lord so lovingly, mercifully, blessedly, generously, and graciously bestows on you. In Christ’s name. For God’s almighty glory, praise the Lord!
