What did Eve do just before she sinned against God which resulted in her and Adam losing their relationship with God and being kicked out of the Garden of Eden? She LOOKED with her eyes. What did King David do just before he committed adultery and had the husband of the woman killed before he ultimately repented? He LOOKED at a woman bathing herself. What does the Bible say about what we LOOK at? If we fill our eyes with evil, you guessed it. We fill our hearts and lives with evil. What does the Bible say about lusting with our eyes? It is not of God. It is of the world. And God does not call us to follow the ways of the world. He calls us to follow Him.
What are you spending your time looking at? What are you watching on television? In the movies? When you drive down the highway? Or walk down the street? Or in the books you read? Or when you sit down at a ballgame? Are you filling your eyes with the Word of God and that which is godly? Or not? God already know what you are looking at. But He leaves the decision to you. Are you pleasing God with what you are looking at? Or is it time to repent and make a change?
Gen 3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
2Sa 11:2 And it came to pass in an eveningtide, that David arose from off his bed, and walked upon the roof of the king’s house: and from the roof he saw a woman washing herself; and the woman was very beautiful to look upon.
“The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! Matthew 6:22-23
1Jn 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
