What Do You Need?

“What do you need?” a business owner asked me by email. Of course I knew she was referring to her company and the products she sells, but I laughed in my heart when I considered her question and what I might have answered.

A vacation. A long break. A lot of help for my ministry. A zillion dollars to help me press on in my life’s calling especially to get more of the tracts, devotionals, devotional magazine, and books out around the United States for free. Oh, I could go on and on with what I felt I “needed”. My actual response to her of course regarded the product she sells. But in retrospect I know what I really needed, what I need every day, what I do in fact seek every day, and what I encourage any and all to partake of each and every day of their lives.

Time alone with Jesus.

To come away from everything and everyone to spend time alone in the presence of God almighty. Time in God’s shelter. In His refuge. In the hiding place with God. Praying to Him. Seeking Him. Praising and worshiping Him. Singing to Him. Hearing His Holy Spirit speaking to the hearts of His children. Experiencing Him. Enjoying Him. Receiving wisdom and instructions from Him. Receiving correction and chastening. Repenting. Drawing nearer to Him, and Him to us.

Pouring out our hearts to Him including our hurts but also our victories. Thanking Him. Reading the Bible and learning from Him. Learning of Him. Receiving more of His love, grace, mercy, forgiveness, lordship, fellowship, and friendship. Returning His love with more and more love for Him. Rejoicing in intimacy with the Lord God almighty. Finding hope and rest in Him. Placing our trust in Him. Abiding in Him. Finding comfort in Him. Healing in Him. Truth from Him.

Oh, I am quite sure we humans could come up with endless things we feel we “need”. In all honesty, there is nothing in the universe we need more and nothing that will be more satisfying than the Lord. Than to turn from our sins, to put our faith in Jesus Christ as Lord, and in His death and resurrection, to genuinely commit our lives to Him, to receive His forgiveness and enter into a forever relationship with Him, to be filled with His Holy Spirit, and to learn day by day to follow Him in a lifestyle of love for Him, obedience to Him, worship of Him, and serving and glorifying Him. And than TAKING TIME AWAY ALONE WITH JESUS which I lovingly encourage you to do each and every day of your life going forth!

Oh, may we MAKE AND KEEP THE COMMITMENT TO COME AWAY ALONE WITH JESUS EACH AND EVERY DAY, oh YES! Hallelujah!

Oh, Lord, please my God, my Father, Lord of Lords, King of Kings, give my readers a hunger and thirst beyond measure for you, your salvation, your Spirit, your Word, intimacy with you, and time alone in your presence daily! Thank you, dear Father, for answering this mighty cry of my heart! I pray this too for the whole wide world. I know Lord not all will repent and turn to you, but I pray it anyway Lord that you would draw this world to yourself and I know it is up to the people whether to turn to you or not. Oh, God. Thank you! Amen!

When it comes to love, there is no greater love than the love of God almighty. Nothing more beautiful, wonderful, glorious, magnificent than the Lord Jesus Christ and His everlasting love. Oh, may we take time daily to come away from the cares of this life and to spend time in the presence, in the love, in the mercy and grace and splendor of the Lord! Oh, yes!
