When God Gets in the Way of Your Plans

You have plans. Really big plans. Really good plans. In your estimate anyway. You have worked hard to get everything in order. You have opened up your calendar. You have created your agenda. You know exactly how you want things to unfold. You have orchestrated everything not to mention everyone in order that everything goes according to your plans. Then something unthinkable happens. Something unexpected. Something you never in a million years imagined.

God gets in the way of your plans. Apparently He has something else planned. He has His own agenda. His own plans and purpose. His own will. So very different than yours mind you. And all of a sudden you find yourself frazzled, irritated, unhappy, maybe even miserable as you realize God as you see it has gotten in the way of your plans. So what do you do?

In this me-centered world, when something or someone seems to get in the way of what we have planned, what we want and hope, what we have worked tirelessly to set into motion, we are taught to do anything and everything necessary to get all the obstacles out of the way so we can move ahead with what we delight in and desire.

Oh, friend, when God makes clear you have created plans and set up an agenda and orchestrated a whole bunch of stuff and even people that do not line up with His will for your life, HUMBLE YOURSELF and SURRENDER YOURSELF to the Lord Jesus Christ and choose to seek and obey the Lord instead! Let go of everything and everyone God wants you to let go – and choose to lovingly, reverently, devotedly follow the Lord Jesus instead! Hallelujah to the Lord God almighty! Amen!

“O LORD, I know the way of man is not in himself; It is not in man who walks to direct his own steps. O LORD, correct me, but with justice; Not in Your anger, lest You bring me to nothing.” Jeremiah 10:23-24 NKJV

“There are many plans in a man’s heart, Nevertheless the LORD’s counsel—that will stand.” Proverbs 19:21 NKJV

“The counsel of the LORD stands forever, The plans of His heart to all generations.” Psalms 33:11 NKJV
