When We Don’t Get Our Way

Per the Bible, God CAN give us exceedingly abundantly more than we can possibly think or imagine, and ALL things are possible to those who believe. But God does NOT promise us He will give us all that we want on this earth! So how do we respond when we don’t get our way? Do we respond with love, joy, thanksgiving, and trust in God and in His perfect will and perfect timing for and in our lives? Or, do we act like little children who throw temper tantrums and have pity parties when they don’t get all they wish for?

I have spent far too much of my time following Jesus doing the latter like a spoiled child, and I can only imagine how this sin must grieve the heart of our Father in heaven. I am learning to put my trust in God day by day at long last acknowledging that He knows best and to be thankful and rejoice in Him regardless of what He does and doesn’t give me when I pray to Him.

And I am learning more and more to pray according to His will instead of according to my own by being filled with and yielded to His Holy Spirit as He directs my prayers in line with the Bible. I am a work in progress, and by God’s love, mercy, kindness, and patience, I am growing.

How about you, friend? Do you have some growing to do also in this? Oh, let us grow! Let us repent when we need to repent, and let us place our hearts and trust and very lives in the tender loving merciful hands of the Lord and surrender ourselves wholly with ardent love and joyful thanksgiving to the Lord as He lovingly, patiently, and blessedly conforms us to Himself. Amen!

“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” Ephesians 3:20-21 NKJV

“Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”” Mark 9:23 NKJV

“Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.” 1 John 5:14-15 NKJV

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NKJV
