Perhaps you can’t stop crying. Or you feel like you can’t stop crying. Or you feel like if you allow yourself to start crying you will not be able to stop crying. Whatever you are going through, if the tears keep coming and coming, or you feel that you might start to cry and never stop, I want to encourage you with this.
Do not cry alone. Cry with Jesus. Cry to Jesus. Cry to the Lord Jesus Christ, yes. Pour your heart out to almighty God. Cry in His presence. Tell Him what fills your heart. Tell Him how you feel. Open your heart to His love, to His comfort, to His mercy and grace and counsel and wisdom and fellowship and lordship and friendship, to His nearness.
But do not stop there. There is, of course, nothing more important than Jesus and believing in Him and following Him and living for Him and spending time in His glorious presence. But God offers you even more love and comfort than from Himself. He gives to you and I our fellow human beings to walk through this life with us. We are not perfect, of course, as He is perfect. But we are still here to love and be there for and support and help and encourage and pray for one another. So go, too, to other people. People to whom God leads you. And share with them your hurts and hardships. And seek and receive from them the love and comfort, the kindness and care, the compassion and tender loving hugs and help they offer to you.
Tears come, and tears go. Sometimes they do in fact seem never-ending. But they do ultimately come to an end. And even when we feel we are drowning in them, we need not be alone in the midst of them.
Turn, turn, turn to Jesus. And rest your hurting heart and whole life and troubles and heartache in His heavenly holy sweet and powerful hands and almighty glorious hold.
Turn, turn, turn to the Lord, AMEN!
