The Word I Tragically Tossed Around

“ “But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say?”” Luke 6:46

Jesus Christ is Lord whether we acknowledge Him or not, whether we believe in Him or not, whether we call Him Lord or not, or whether we live our lives as though He is Lord or not. He is Lord of all regardless of what we think, feel, say, or do.

But for those of us who call Jesus Christ Lord, we need to take an honest and careful look at our hearts and lives. Not just in the big picture, at our hearts and lives as a whole, but in the smaller picture, in how we live our lives day by day, and even moment by moment.

An everlasting relationship with God through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, of being in fellowship with God now and forever in heaven, instead of being forever separated from God with the final stop being eternal torment in hell and the lake of fire, is NOT for those who call Jesus Christ Lord. It’s for those who call Him Lord, who believe in their hearts He died on the cross for their sins and was raised from the dead, and who live their everyday lives accordingly. With the Lord as highest priority, highest desire, submitting themselves to His lordship, knowing and believing He is the One who will reign forever as Lord of lords, King of Kings, Savior and redeemer as God almighty.

For years, I tossed the word “Lord” around like it was going out of style. My everyday life was sufficient proof I was reigning as “lord” in my “own” life. The Lord in His magnificent love with His infinite grace and with His unfathomable mercy led me to repentance and taught me what I am sad to say I hear too few pastors, too few churches, too few Christians, too few Christian authors, etc., preach. Calling Jesus Christ Lord means absolutely nothing if we do not live for Christ and study God’s Word to learn to live our lives accordingly. With Jesus Christ as Lord of all!

Do you need to repent?
