Your Mind and Mouth

“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my strength and my Redeemer.” Psalm 19:14……………

Please pay careful attention to this. Please don’t miss what I did for years. Please hear this message. This is a well-known Bible verse, and sometimes verses become so well-known we neglect to dig deep into them, to truly hear the message from God in them, and to go out and do what the Lord is telling us.

What is the psalmist saying? What is the psalmist praying? What is the psalmist asking for? To whom is the psalmist speaking?

  • He is calling out to THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY who SAVED HIM, who REDEEMED HIM, and who GIVES HIM THE STRENGTH HE NEEDS.
  • He is ASKING GOD to enable him to be pleasing to God.
  • How so? IN THE WORDS HE SPEAKS.
  • AND how so? IN HIS MEDITATION. In other words, IN WHAT HE THINKS ABOUT.

The psalmist wants HIS WORDS and HIS THOUGHTS to be ACCEPTABLE TO GOD, and he KNOWS THAT HE NEEDS GOD’S HELP AND STRENGTH FOR THIS TO HAPPEN.

We humans are so incredibly prone to be focused on our actions and on our appearance. The external tangible stuff. Our actions ARE important to the Lord! Our actions SHOULD be pleasing to God! But this is NOT all. God wants our WORDS and our THOUGHTS to please and honor Him also!

The psalmist was well aware of his need to please the Lord in his WORDS and THOUGHTS, and he looked to the Lord to enable him to be pleasing to Him!

When was the last time you gave careful consideration to whether YOUR WORDS and YOUR THOUGHTS are pleasing and acceptable to THE LORD?

Should we not continually be diligent about ensuring our THOUGHTS, WORDS, and ACTIONS please and honor the Lord? And should we not acknowledge that we need HIS LOVE and HIS MERCY and HIS STRENGTH, and HIS SPIRIT and HIS WORD most of all, to love and honor and obey Him in every way He desires? Yes!

Please pay attention to ALL aspects of your life – thoughts and words included. And please be totally devoted to the LORD JESUS CHRIST – and to living to bring God through Christ glory, honor, love, and praise forevermore!
