A friend called me to check in on me. She knew I had been going through a hard time and wanted to see how I was and to update me a bit on her own life. She loves the Lord with all her heart, loves to talk with me about the Lord and the Bible, and she prays to no end for countless people including myself. She cheered me up in her simple call to me. She gave me a little reprieve from my sadness and solitude that day. Know what this makes me think of?
How we have such a wonderful opportunity with our telephones to use them to glorify God, to love and serve Him and others, to call people and talk to them about Jesus, to encourage and help them, to support them and show them compassion, to comfort them, to point them to the Lord and the Bible, to rejoice with them over God’s goodness, to mourn with them when they are sorrowful, to pray for them over the phone or perhaps afterward or both, to do as the Lord leads.
Loving and serving the Lord and others doesn’t always need to be in a super big way. It can be in small simple ways also. Like taking the love, time, and care to reach out to friends, family, strangers, anyone at all, and to share with them the love of Jesus.
I hope this message inspires you to use your telephone for Jesus and others who could use a simple call in His name!
“For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.”” Galatians 5:13-14
