Please read Psalms 46 just below and open your heart to the message the Lord so lovingly, tenderly, graciously, kindly, comfortingly, preciously, and generously gave me to share with you. I am excited over how I believe the Lord will encourage you with this message!
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah. There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High. God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early. The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted. The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah. Come, behold the works of the LORD, what desolations he hath made in the earth. He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire. Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.” Psalms 46:1-11
Friend, once you have turned from your sins, believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and in His death and resurrection, and have sincerely devoted your life to the Lord and His ways and are living your life as such, please consider these promises for you His beloved child who have entered into His forever Kingdom and been adopted into His everlasting family.
• God is our REFUGE!
• God is our STRENGTH!
• God is our HELP!
When we are in trouble, when we struggle, when we face great trials, when we are overwhelmed, weary, burdened, don’t know where to turn, are in great need, can’t imagine getting through the day let alone the next moment, are unhappy, feeling lost, broken, discouraged, etc., we can run to the Lord and TAKE REFUGE IN HIM, RECEIVE STRENGTH FROM HIM, and GET HELP FROM HIM.
God is a PRESENT HELP. We can rest in HIS PRESENCE – NOW. GOD IS WITH HIS CHILDREN. He is HERE WITH US. He is not far away. His Holy Spirit dwells in His children. He is WITH US RIGHT HERE RIGHT NOW. Even when we’re right in the midst of our trials and tribulations! We can call on Him! We can cry out to Him! We can pour our hearts out to Him! We can put our trust in Him! We can know intimately His love, mercy, grace, compassion, and comfort as we commune with Him!
He is here with us to love us, bless us, encourage us, comfort us, be kind to us, be tender with us, give us wisdom, inspire us, teach us, grow us, change us, fellowship with us, draw near to us as we draw near to Him, lead us, guide us, have mercy upon us, and give us His peace and His joy.
Oh, sure, sometimes He’s tough with us. When we need correction, chastening, conviction, and repentance. When our troubles result from our own sin, He will lead us to repentance and have mercy upon us when we confess our wrongdoing and turn away from it. But we are foolish if we see God as only a God of chastening and repentance. God above all else is LOVE! And He wants to love and help and strengthen us now as He is here with us beyond anything we can fathom!
We who follow Jesus don’t have to wait to be in heaven with Him to take refuge in Him and to find strength in Him and help from Him. HE IS PRESENT WITH US NOW. We are not alone. HE IS WITH US. He may take away our troubles. But He may choose not to take away our troubles and instead to use them to draw us closer to Him, to bring correction, to change and grow us, to test us, to make us more like Him, to refine and purify us, and to prepare and use us to help and encourage others. But no matter what, THE LORD IS WITH US!
The world seems to be falling apart in Psalms 46, doesn’t it? Sometimes we feel like we ourselves are falling apart. Or, we struggle because we watch our modern day world falling apart as the time draws nearer for the end of the world and the Lord’s coming forever reign. But in the midst of it all, THE LORD OUR GOD WHO WILL REIGN FOREVER AND EVER IS RIGHT HERE RIGHT NOW WITH US!
Cry out to Him, my friend! Draw near to Him! Seek Him! Spend time in His presence! Find refuge and strength and help in the Lord Jesus Christ, oh yes!
