Herein is a wild and powerful personal testimony about honesty.
The background? My ministry is in enormous need of financial support. Sadly, when I periodically let people know I could really use new Monthly Sponsors as well as Donors, usually either nobody steps forward to help or at most one person maybe two. This is to the point I have at times wondered if I need to shut down my ministry or go get a secular job.
God’s will? Always absolutely always the Lord has made exceedingly abundantly clear I need to humbly and faithfully persevere in ministry and trust Him to provide. He has made crystal clear He wants me available to Him and for ministry 24-7 with absolutely no other work that could take away my time, availability, focus, and ability.
So what happened? Imagine my surprise when shortly before writing this I found in the parking lot of a business an envelope with a card in it and a whole bunch of money!
There was no name on the card. No address. No phone number. Nothing whatever identifying the giver of the money nor the person who was supposed to receive the money. It would have been easy to assume it impossible to get the money back to where it belonged and to justify why my ministry would greatly benefit from the money.
But I am a totally devoted follower of the Lord Jesus Christ, and Jesus followers are to put our trust in the Lord not in money and this world. And we are to be honest and live according to His ways not the world’s ways.
I am betting not a human being would have known where that money ended up. Nobody saw me find the envelope. No human anyway. But God saw. And God sees. God knows all our thoughts, He hears all our words, and He knows all our actions. There are no secrets when it comes to God. And His followers are not to walk in darkness. We are to walk in light. In truth. In His love. In His ways.
That big amount of money that could have helped me and my ministry will end up wherever God desires it to go. I brought the envelope containing the card and money to a place of business near where I found it. Fully trusting God will do as He desires. And believing God will continue to lead me in life and ministry, to guide me, and to provide for mine and the ministry’s needs as I press on loving and serving Him with every ounce of my heart!
If God is using this message to lead you to look at an area of dishonesty in your life, I beg you with all my heart to cry out to Him in prayer, repent, turn from your sin, believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and in His death and resurrection, and commit your heart and life to the Lord and His ways.
If God leads you to turn yourself in to authorities, to tell family of your dishonesty, to tell your employer, to make amends and restore what you have done wrongly, whatever He leads you to do, do it!
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.” Matthew 5:6 NKJV
“For God will bring every work into judgment, Including every secret thing, Whether good or evil.” Ecclesiastes 12:14 NKJV
“For nothing is secret that will not be revealed, nor anything hidden that will not be known and come to light.” Luke 8:17 NKJV
“This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:5-9 NKJV
