God’s Will for You

When I asked the Lord in the morning what He wanted me to do for the day, He surprised me with His response.

“I want you to go to the car and get your cup,” His Holy Spirit spoke to my heart.

I had accidentally left my protein smoothie cup in my car the day before.

Now I don’t know about you, but I am most comfortable when everything is mapped out for me in advance, when I know God’s will for the foreseeable future, when I feel like He has given me a checklist so I can simply cross things off as I go along, and when everything goes smoothly, easily, and comfortably, and when there are no surprises or challenges or hard stuff along the way.

Now here was God giving me one simple task and making abundantly clear I would have to simply trust Him concerning the rest of the day not to mention my life. I would have to walk by faith believing His Holy Spirit would lead me step by step going forward.

Friend, following the Lord Jesus Christ isn’t about having the rest of our lives all mapped out whereby we can depend on ourselves and feel safe, secure, and comfortable all along the way.

Following Jesus is about believing in God, trusting in God, being loved by God, loving and serving God, looking to God, praying to God, seeking God, reading the Bible, hearing God, depending on God not on ourselves, obeying God as His Holy Spirit leads us step by step, breath by breath, day by day.

And following Jesus is about experiencing and enjoying and praising and worshiping and drawing ever closer to God along the way.

Whether God simply tells us our very next step such as go get a cup from the car, whether He gives us a plan for years to come, whether God tells us to do nothing more than pray and wait, whatever God tells us concerning going forward, what matters more than anything else is not what He tells us to do.

What matters most is Jesus Himself and being totally devoted to Him and enjoying Him now and forevermore.

Pray to God continually. Follow Him as He leads you. Whether He tells you His will for a long time to come, or whether He simply tells you to “go get your cup”, do whatever He says.

And as you follow Jesus on the pathway He sets before you, whatever you do, do it with LOVE and THANKSGIVING and in a manner that brings PRAISE, HONOR, and GLORY to the Lord!

And enjoy an intimate relationship with Jesus as you go forth! Amen!
