Abounding with Thanksgiving

God has gifted me in words. Writing them. Speaking them. Paying close attention to them. Noticing them. Being moved by God through them. Sometimes speaking and writing too many. Sometimes speaking and writing too few. Sometimes speaking and writing the wrong ones. Sometimes the right ones. When other people are preoccupied with other things, it is likely I may be preoccupied with words. Of course, the greatest when it comes to words is the Bible, God’s Word. And how delighted I was when I began working on my 100 Days of Thanksgiving book to come across a very powerful word in the verse below. Abounding.

I like to think of abounding as being so filled that something or someone is overflowing. The content cannot be contained. Something is so big that it cannot be held back. To what does the word abounding refer in the verse to follow? Thanksgiving! The apostle Paul tells the people – and us – to be rooted and built up in the Lord Jesus Christ, to be established in our faith in Him, and to ABOUND WITH THANKSGIVING!

Am I? Are you? Oh, let us be! Amen!

“As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.” Colossians 2:6-7 KJV
