Beautiful Dog Story!

Paralyzed ministry dog Miss Mercy, hit by probably a truck years ago before she came into my life, absolutely LOVES people. She LOVES doing streets, hotel, and beach ministry with Mommy (me) because she loves all the love and attention she gets. On the beach, she goes off on her own boldly, confidently, excitedly, and expectantly in her wheelchair and goes up to whomever she feels led to approach until they start petting her. She would stay for hours being petted and adored by people if I would let her. Special needs ministry dog Grace is a different story.

Grace, dumped years ago at a gas station and hit by 2 cars on the same day, has been petrified of people for years. She is just now after all these years very slowly and carefully learning to approach certain people but very timidly and always appearing in the look on her face and by her stance that she might flee at any moment should something go wrong and she not consider herself safe. Know what gets Grace started thinking she should start trusting and consider the good that may come if she does? Know what inspires her? Know what makes her think maybe it would be good for her to trust and that she could greatly enjoy the results of doing so? Watching Miss Mercy! Know what this reminds me of?

I believe we can be inspired by people who have a deeply personal, deeply intimate, deeply rich, deeply rewarding, deeply ever-growing relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. I believe we can be inspired by the faith and trust and hope and expectancy and confidence others have in Jesus. I believe we can be inspired and encouraged watching them approach God, come into His presence, and experience and enjoy fellowship with Him.

I believe it is so vital that we at all times have believers in Jesus in our lives to walk alongside us to love, encourage, help, and pray for us in believing in and following the Lord. I believe it is also vital as we grow in our own relationship with the Lord that we come alongside others and love, encourage, help, and pray for them to believe in and follow the Lord.

For many years, I was inspired watching others have a loving relationship with the Lord. I had little trust, little faith, little confidence, and most of the time I could say I believed in Jesus Christ as Lord but kept my distance from Him. Truthfully I was even afraid of God because I figured He was like someone who had hurt me terribly. I didn’t want to be hurt again.

But over the years as the Lord drew me to Himself by His Holy Spirit, as He grew me by His Spirit through His Word, He also used other believers to help me to realize how wonderfully rewarding it would be – and is – to learn to come into His presence and to enjoy an intimate passionate and precious relationship with Him.

Hope this little story about Miss Mercy and Miss Grace has inspired you, hope my own relationship with the Lord inspires you, and hope you will make a decision going forth to LOVE THE LORD WITH EVERY OUNCE OF YOUR HEART and to not keep any distance from Him. That instead you will learn to enjoy a forever relationship with Him through faith in and your life being devoted wholeheartedly to the Lord Jesus Christ! And to be totally devoted to loving and glorifying Him forever and ever, hallelujah, AMEN!

Lord, with all my heart, I implore you to use this sweet little doggies story to draw people into a forever and ever blessed and blissful, wonderful and lovely, ever-growing, ever-deeper, ever-stronger, ever-more-rewarding everlasting relationship with you, oh Lord. AMEN!

“My flesh and my heart fail; But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. For indeed, those who are far from You shall perish; You have destroyed all those who desert You for harlotry. But it is good for me to draw near to God; I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, That I may declare all Your works.” Psalms 73:26-28
