I was sitting at my computer in my latest hotel room on the road for Jesus when suddenly the sunshine shone unbelievably brightly through the window and landed and remained directly on the left side of my face. I turned toward it for a moment and relished and rejoiced in something I love so much. Sunshine. Warmth. Light. Brightness. I felt so thankful to God. For decades I took my blessings for granted both in the years I didn’t believe in God and in the years I believed in Him but was too caught up in focusing on my personal struggles to notice, appreciate, enjoy, and be thankful for my blessings.
I wasn’t just thankful that day for the sunshine, but I was extra thankful. See, I had been on the road for Jesus for 4.5 years, and in most of my hotel rooms the windows wouldn’t open and I felt it best for safety and security and privacy to keep my blinds shut. In this hotel, on that day, the blinds were open, the window was open, and God’s love poured through the window in His blessing to me of sunshine aimed right at my face.
How many blessings do you suppose we miss along the way and neglect to thank the Lord for? Oh, let us strive daily to see, appreciate, acknowledge, enjoy, and thank God for our blessings! Most of all, let us be thankful to God for being the greatest blessing of all!
