I have struggled every day of my life with one thing or another for as long as I can remember, and by God’s grace alone I have come to see beauty in the struggle – when my response to struggle is desperation, humility, surrender, seeking the Lord, and obedience to Him.
When we struggle, we can turn away from the Lord and struggle on our own, we can turn to the Lord halfheartedly with lukewarmness which the Lord despises and prayer if we so choose but hold ourselves back from truly yielding ourselves to His will and ways, or we can do what I have learned to do which is how I have found beauty in the struggle.
We can draw closer and closer to Jesus, hold onto Him and the Bible for dear life, and open ourselves up to the Lord using our struggles to develop deeper intimacy with Himself, to make us more like Himself, and to use our lives and testimonies to help others find and follow Him.
The beauty in struggle is Jesus and all He does in and through us as He gives us the love, grace, strength, and mercy to endure through the struggle when we choose to submit our hearts and lives utterly to Him.
Father, help us in our struggles to surrender ourselves wholly to you through it all. Help us to see your beauty. Help us to see the beauty of what you do through our struggles. Help us to hold onto you and your Word for dear life. Draw us ever closer to yourself, dear Lord. For those reading this who are struggling, lead them, guide them, draw them near and nearer to you, conform them to yourself, provide for them, refine them, and love, love, love and comfort them, my beloved Lord. Lead them into an infinitely wonderful forever relationship with you, but don’t stop there, dear God. Through their struggles, and through their seasons of no struggle or less struggle, bless them with an ever-growing, ever-more-intimate, personal relationship with yourself. In Jesus’ name, thank you dear Father, AMEN!
“For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
The Lord will give grace and glory;
No good thing will He withhold
From those who walk uprightly.
O Lord of hosts,
Blessed is the man who trusts in You!” Psalm 84:11-12
