Being Thankful in a Darkening World

0

It takes about 2 minutes of focusing on the world news to see the truth as God shows us in the Bible that the world due to the sinfulness of humanity is darkening, and it takes just seconds for many of us like myself to get swallowed up in negativity, anxiety, ungratefulness, complaining, self-pity, and the like. When we focus on the evil of this world and on the hardness of our trials and tribulations, we will get swept away by the darkness and do nothing more than contribute to it. But we have a choice as the Lord so often reminds me.

We can focus on the darkness and think about it, talk about it, respond in our feelings to it, react to it with our own sinfulness, or we can turn our hearts and minds to the one true God, God almighty, light of this world, the God who is love, the God of hope, the God of comfort, the God of peace, Savior of the world, God who loves us so much He sent His only Son Jesus to the cross to die for us and to raise Him from the dead. So all who turn from our sins, believe in Jesus Christ as Lord, and in His death and resurrection, truly turning our lives over to God and His ways, are forgiven, indwelt by God’s Holy Spirit, promised a forever relationship with the Lord, and are to love, revere, fear, honor, praise, worship, serve, obey, and glorify the Lord forevermore! To experience and enjoy the Lord in an intimate relationship with Him right here on this earth even as the world darkens – and forevermore!

Friend, when we turn away from the darkness and turn to Jesus Christ, light of this world, we have reason to be filled with love, peace, hope, joy – and THANKSGIVING to the Lord most high! This world will one day be gone, and there shall be a new heavens and a new earth. And for those who turn to Jesus Christ as Lord, who follow Jesus Christ as Lord, who live for Jesus Christ as Lord, who live according to God’s ways as He teaches us in the Bible for God’s glory, who are filled with and led by God’s Holy Spirit for the glory of Christ, we have the promise right here, right now, even in this very moment, and the next moment, and all the moments for now and eternity to come, of intimate fellowship with the Lord and can, and should, REJOICE and to BE THANKFUL that Jesus Christ is Lord forever and we are His forevermore! Hallelujah, AMEN!

Let us humble ourselves before God almighty, let us turn from our sins, let us become and remain totally devoted followers of the Lord Jesus Christ, let us make a conscious effort to set our hearts and minds upon God and His goodness and His infinite blessings, and let us BE THANKFUL for the Lord and to the Lord now, this very day, tomorrow, and forever and ever, AMEN!

“Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”” John 8:12 NKJV

I cannot encourage you enough to spend time each and every day alone in the presence of God almighty, and in the Bible, loving, praising, magnifying, singing to, seeking, praying to, hearing, obeying, communing with, trusting in, abiding in, resting in, rejoicing in, spending time with, hoping in, worshiping, glorifying, and enjoying the Lord. But PLEASE do not limit your time with the Lord to a set-apart time. Please day in and day out enjoy an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord, ever looking to God, praying, hearing, following, learning of Him, striving to please Him, abiding, abiding, abiding in Him, oh yes! AMEN!
