Why do you think the Bible talks about KNOWING God’s love AND BELIEVING God’s love? Because you are not the only one in the world who may know about God’s love but have trouble believing it is for you. Just because you know ABOUT His love doesn’t mean you believe His love is for you. But God wants you to both KNOW and BELIEVE His love.

If you were abused as a child, or if you are in an abusive relationship now, or if you have ever been abandoned by a loved one, or if you have been raped or struggle with addiction, you may feel like God’s love is for everybody else but you. But His love is for you no matter your story.
Unfortunately, knowing His love for you doesn’t necessarily mean that you believe it. Those of us who have experienced traumas and tragedies can have a really tough time believing that God wants to love us. But He does. And He doesn’t want us to just know about His love. Nor does He wants us to simply know and believe His love for us. He wants us to experience His love by our engaging in a personal relationship with Him through our faith in Jesus.
If you are struggling with knowing and believing and experiencing His love for you, ask Him to help you with this. Open your heart to Him. Let Him love you.
I learned quite a good long time ago about God’s love, but I didn’t believe it was for me. I had endured too much abuse, abandonment and rejection at the hands of humans to believe I could ever be loved the way I really wanted to be. But that was exactly the point I had to come to understand. I needed to realize all the abuse, abandonment, and rejection I had gone through was a result of human beings and not of God. God doesn’t love the way humans do. God loves perfectly.
I also struggled terribly with believing God could really love me because like every other human on this earth, I have had my struggles with sin. It was hard for me to imagine that I could mess up really badly, and even mess up doing the same thing I should have stopped doing long ago, and that God would still love someone like me. But guess what. He did. And He does.
And now I don’t just know about God’s love for me. I also believe it. And not only do I just know and believe His love for me. I now experience it on a daily basis.
God’s love is not conditional on your story, on what you have done or not done, or on what others have done to you or not done for you. His love is totally conditional on Him.
Open your heart today, and for always, to the love of God. Experience love like you have never experienced it before. Experience His love – for you!
