“Those who look to him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed.” Psalm 34:5 ESV (underline added for effect
When you set your gaze upon the world, your face, and your emotions, will likely reflect the world and its troubles and woes. When you set your gaze upon the Lord, your face should reflect Him; it should radiate with the glory of His love and His light. Your face should be radiant.
What happened to Jesus when He was transfigured? His face shone!
“And He was transfigured before them; and His face shone like the sun, and His garments became as white as light. 3And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him. 4Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You wish, I will make three tabernacles here, one for You, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”5While he was still speaking, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and behold, a voice out of the cloud said, “This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well-pleased; listen to Him!” ” Matthew 17:2-5 NASB (underline added for effect)
What did John notice about the Lord in the Book of Revelations before John fell flat on his face like a dead man?
In His right hand He held seven stars, and out of His mouth came a sharp two-edged sword; and His face was like the sun shining in its strength. When I saw Him, I fell at His feet like a dead man. And He placed His right hand on me, saying, “Do not be afraid; I am the first and the last, 18and the living One; and I was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of death and of Hades. Rev. 1:16-18 (underline added for effect)
What happened to Moses when He went into the presence of the Lord? Look at His face!
“But whenever Moses went in before the LORD to speak with Him, he would take off the veil until he came out; and whenever he came out and spoke to the sons of Israel what he had been commanded, the sons of Israel would see the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses’ face shone….” Exodus 34:34-35 NASB (underline added for effect)
If your face is not radiating, chances are you are focused on the trials, tribulations, hurdles, obstacles, challenges, and cares of this world rather than focused on the glory of the Lord and the Truth of His Word. When you get into the presence of the Lord by spending time with Him in prayer, praise, worship, study of His Word, and listening to Him, your face should shine and your life should radiate.
What should you do when your face and your life shine?
“Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16 NASB (underline added for effect)
God does not want our faces, and lives, to shine simply and solely so we can hog Him to ourselves. He desires for us to shine as lights to help guide others to Him. In an ever-darkening world, our faces and lives should stand out to others like lighthouses to help point the way to Him!
