What kind of war would it be if soldiers spent all their time defening themselves and never bothered to get on the offense? What kind of football game would it be if the defense were the only team members who bothered to play? If you’re fighting life’s spiritual battles without any offense, you’re more than likely missing your victories. The “full armor of God” depicted in Ephesians 6 of the Bible very clearly includes the “sword of the Spirit”, which is God’s Word. A sword is intended to use and to help secure a victory.

Most people I meet, including Christians, spend little to no time studying God’s Word outside of hearing a pastor preach or perhaps joining a small group and doing the assigned homework. Would you go off to fight a major war without your weapons? Certainly you would not go to war with only the equipment you use to defend yourself.

If you want victory in your life, PUT on God’s “FULL armor” – including the sword. USE God’s full armor. And be sure to use your sword. STUDY the Bible with the Holy Spirit teaching you as God promises in His Word, and USE God’s Word as your sword. Be filled with God’s Word, speak God’s Word, and live God’s Word. Live a life of victory!

Eph 6:12  For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Eph 6:13  Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Eph 6:14  Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
Eph 6:15  And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Eph 6:16  Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
Eph 6:17  And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Eph 6:18  Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; (KJV Bible) (underlining added for effect)
