I ask you to run no longer, but to sit quietly at my feet. Do not do this with the intention of getting anything, for this is not the reason I invite you here. I want to teach you of my ways. Oh, how I long for you to be here with me. But you continue to run. If only you would be still and know that the things of this world will come to an end.
But I go on forever. This invitation I extend to you is far more important than any of your endeavors. Your calendar is full. Must I reserve a space? You call me Lord but I have to make an appointment to spend time with you. I am not your priority but you tell your friends I am.
When will I become (your priority) once again? At first you loved me. But quickly you became enamored with your life’s pursuits. And here I wait, watching you fill your days with the pleasures of this life, once in a while turning back to thank me, then continuing to fill your days with the world.
How much longer? When will you be still? You come back when you have a hurt. You end your days thanking me. And someday, you say, you will return. But for now you are too tired with your busy life to do anything more than call me Lord.
Luk 10:38 Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.
Luk 10:39 And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word.
Luk 10:40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.
Luk 10:41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:
Luk 10:42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her. (KJV Bible)
