I may well be the only person throughout time who has ever written a testimony concerning bird poop, but nothing in my life has ever been quite ordinary to say the least. Such is the case with the Lord using bird poop to inspire me to write a devotional message about Him.
“You’re so beautiful! You’re so beautiful!” I sang out loud to the Lord as I walked to my car in the parking lot at my latest hotel on the road for Jesus and ministry with my special needs ministry dogs.
What was that gunk on my car? My car is NEVER clean outside or inside. I am used to dirt. But this was not the usual dirt. This was a massive amount of bird poop all over the hood of my car. Yuck. Ick. Disgusting. Why my car? Of course I would be the only car that got it. At least that got a ton of it. This wasn’t just a little bird poop. This was an enormous amount of duck poop? Geese poop? Lord only knew.
All of a sudden as I got all worked up and headed toward my hotel room to get supplies to clean it up I realized something. I had stopped singing to the Lord! I had gotten caught up in my yucky circumstances and forgotten all about Him. And about how wonderful and marvelous and magnificent and beautiful the Lord is. Why would I sing to the Lord when I didn’t like my circumstances?
Herein lies the message. God is worthy of our love, adoration, obedience, praise, honor, singing, worship, service, and of receiving glory ALL THE TIME – NO MATTER WHAT.
Minutes later, I found myself singing again. This time a new little song.
“You’re still beautiful, you’re still beautiful,…” I sang to the Lord.
Friend, we face lots of yucky stuff in life. And as in my own story for decades now, lots of that yucky stuff is way, way, way worse and harder than bird poop on our cars in hotel parking lots. The truth is, no matter what we face in life, even when we are right in the thick of it, we can and should be PRAISING THE LORD!
We should NOT stop praising and singing to God because of the “bird poop” in our lives. We should set our hearts and eyes upon the Lord, upon the Bible, and upon His countless blessings and bless Him and express to Him our love, thanksgiving, and praise!
Jesus Christ is Lord now and forever, and the Lord is deserving of praise now and forevermore! Hallelujah. He is so beautiful! Beautiful! Beautiful! God is so beautiful – forever and evermore! Amen!
