BLESSINGS 252-254
“Say to God,
“How awesome are Your works!
Through the greatness of Your power
Your enemies shall submit themselves to You.” Psalm 66:3

A beautiful blessing about God’s Word is the precious treasures within just keep on coming. On and on they flow. On and on they go. Chasing after them, we can find more and more. Blessing after blessing, treasures we find when we persevere in reading His Word.

Years ago, I committed to read the Bible daily no matter what. No matter how little or much I read, I stay true to my promise. And, oh, how I am blessed. The more I read, the more I dig, the more open I am to the Spirit of God, the more I learn and grow. The more I unearth further blessings. Like these three. Ones I might not have even noticed in the past. But here they are for all the Lord’s followers to partake of.

First, we can express TO GOD how wonderful, how awesome, how amazing His works are! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to tell others of the greatness and wonderfulness of God. But shouldn’t we also tell the Lord Himself how wonderful He is and how wonderful are His works? Yes! Oh, what a blessing to declare to Him Himself His awesomeness!

Next, God’s power is infinitely great and fantastic. It’s something we can overlook. Something we can take for granted. Something we can neglect to acknowledge and appreciate and be thankful for and take advantage of and use in our everyday lives to live according to His ways and to bring glory to His name. Or, we can see the blessedness of His power and be appreciative in our thoughts, words, and our actions!

Thirdly, no matter how much it might look like wicked people doing wicked things are getting away with it, no matter how much it may seem like our enemies will never have consequences for the wrongdoing they are doing toward us and others, this is not the case. Unless they repent and turn to Christ as Lord, truly learning to live for Him and no longer according to their own wicked ways, they will be dealt with by the Lord. Vengeance is in the hands of the Lord, and it will come by Him if they do not turn to Him.

Please don’t miss these blessings. Nor all the others you will find when you dig deep and devotedly and humbly and ever so thankfully into God’s wondrously blessed, satisfying, life-giving, and life-changing Word!

BLESSING 255

“You have caused men to ride over our heads;
We went through fire and through water;
But You brought us out to rich fulfillment.” Psalm 66:12

The psalmist speaks in this psalm of the Lord refining the people and bringing them through hard stuff. You can study the psalm if you want to see and understand in detail and to see it in its full context in the Old Testament. Here we are all these very many years later, and still the Lord uses hard times in our lives as opportunities to refine us. I have a loved one who many years ago who was in a horrific house fire in which he was badly burned and his grandmother tragically died. He believes he caused the fire, though he was told he did not. Either way, despite the horrible burns, the Lord brought him through. His trials and struggles continue on, and so, I believe, does the Lord’s refining.

Not everyone goes through literal fire and literal floods, though some do. Those who do, some the Lord brings out of alive, and others He does not. But even those who do not go through literal fire and floods, the reality of life on this earth is that humans go through trials great and small.

And, when we are yielded to the Lord Jesus Christ, when we are submitted to God and His ways, when we are on the other side of our trials, we can sometimes see how the Lord refined us through it all.

What is “rich fulfillment” do you suppose? Perhaps the blessing of when He brings us through tough times. Perhaps the blessing of how He conforms us to Himself through those tough times. Perhaps the blessing of how He brings us closer to Himself through it all.

The Lord always knows what He is doing, and our job is to humbly submit ourselves to Him and to be thankful to Him for His love, His Lordship, His sovereignty, and His wisdom and perfect will through it all. Let us not lose sight even when we face great trials of the Lord and His blessedness!

Sometimes, mind you, we are the cause of the hard stuff that happens. In that case, we need to repent and turn to the Lord. Other times, we are not the cause. Either way, we need to entrust ourselves to the Lord. He knows what He is doing. He always knows what is best. And the very best of all – the greatest blessing? Jesus! Lord of all! Lord forever! Everlasting King, AMEN!

BLESSINGS 256
“Come and hear, all you who fear God,
And I will declare what He has done for my soul.” Psalm 66:16

Fearing God is one of the most important aspects of being a Christ follower. We are to fear the Lord! To love and revere Him! To bow down before Him in heart, thoughts, words, and actions! To submit ourselves to Him! To surrender entirely to His Lordship in all things in all ways at all times! To fully entrust ourselves to Jesus! To remember He is Lord and we and others most assuredly are not! To honor the Lord continually! To repent when we fall short! To give ourselves over to the Lord! To grow and grow – and grow in His image!

Look at the psalmist’s words. How sweet, how tender, how lovely instead of being angry, hurt, and bitter that we are commanded to fear the Lord, that we are to give ourselves utterly to God almighty, the psalmist is thankful! And He wants to DECLARE – to tell others – of God’s goodness! Of what the Lord has done for him! Of what the Lord has done for His very soul! How blessed we are when instead of rebelling against God and His will for us, instead of trying to exert control over our “own lives”, we hand over the rights to ourselves to Jesus who died on the cross for us and was raised from the dead.

When we fear the Lord, and we live by this fear, this honor, this reverence, this fervent love for Christ, we see His goodness to our very souls – and can declare to all what God almighty has done. Thank you Father! Thank you Lord! Thank you God! AMEN!

BLESSING 257

“O God, You are more awesome than Your holy places.
The God of Israel is He who gives strength and power to His people.” Psalm 68:35

Everything on this earth comes to an end including the earth itself, right? We as humans will go on and ultimately be in heaven forever with the Lord when He creates the new heavens and the new earth, or we will go on to be forever apart from Him in never-ending torment in hell and the lake of fire. But as far as good things on this earth, and bad things on this earth, they have a beginning and end, isn’t that true?

A good feeling eventually ends. Good news only lasts a certain period of time. A marriage no matter how wonderful it is eventually results in one and ultimately both people passing away if the marriage stays beautifully and wonderfully intact. Bad news, too, has a beginning and a finish to it.

But what about the Lord and His love and goodness? The Lord is forever and ever and ever. He literally never ends! His wondrousness and majesty and glory are from eternity. And they are for eternity. The Lord Jesus Christ is FOREVER! Look at the psalmist’s praise of the Lord. He calls God AWESOME – and even “MORE AWESOME” than His holy places. Everything good and marvelous the Lord creates, He is more awesome than it all – holy places included.

And the Lord does what as far as His people are concerned? He gives us – yes, US, as in those of us who follow the Lord Jesus Christ – STRENGTH and POWER! No matter how weak and powerless we may feel and even be, we can find STRENGTH and POWER in the Holy Spirit of Christ who lives inside us!

God who goes on for eternity is the source of strength, power, and everlasting – AWESOMENESS! Bless, bless, bless you Lord for your strength, your power, your unmatchable unsurpassed glory – and for being eternally AWESOME! Thank you, dear God! Thank you, precious almighty Lord! AMEN!

BLESSING 258

“I will praise the name of God with a song,
And will magnify Him with thanksgiving.” Psalm 69:30

Praise, singing, and thanksgiving. Oh, let us magnify, let us exalt, let us lift up, let us raise up the name of the Lord God almighty! The psalmist is so joyful when He speaks of honoring the Lord, isn’t He? He rejoices, He celebrates, He is so excited and thrilled and in wondrous unbounded adoration of the Lord!

He doesn’t hold back. He pours out His praise of God! What a blessing we don’t need to contain our love for Jesus, but instead we can pour, pour, pour out our thanksgiving to God, our love for Him, our excitement that He is God forever!

What a blessing the Lord has given us the desire to praise Him, the ability to praise Him, and that we can praise Him in so many ways – in thoughts, in words, in actions, in song, in dance, in poetry, in artwork, in our facial expressions, in how we speak of Him to others, in teaching, in the way we bow down before Him!

Let us not hold back our praise, friend. Praise itself – the expression of our love for God – is a blessing in and of itself. Oh, how far short I fall in praising the Lord who is deserving of praise forevermore! Let us praise Him, let us praise Him, oh, friend, let us praise the Lord, AMEN!

BLESSING 259

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.” Colossians 3:16

The Lord Jesus Christ is called the Word, and the Bible is called the Word. So let Jesus, the Spirit of Christ, and the Bible, let the Lord live inside us so very richly. And may we share with one another as followers of the Lord wisdom, teaching, psalms, hymns, spiritual songs, and more! Let us share with one another the joy of Christ in all sorts of expressions as we together lift up high His holy almighty forever blessed name! With the grace of God inside us, inside our very hearts, may we sing to the Lord most high!

Such a blessing to praise the Lord individually, and such a blessing to praise the Lord as one Body of Christ as we gather – as we assemble – together to worship the Lord! Even as we bless the Lord in praise, alone, and together, we are blessed in the process of praising Him. The joy of praising God is so enriching, so invigorating, so exciting – and even contagious whereby others are inspired to join together in praise. Praise the Lord, praise the almighty, praise God, praise, praise, praise Him! I am even excited and smiling as I write these very words. Praise is such a blessing! If we would only praise Him more of the time. Shall we? Let us do just that, AMEN!

BLESSING 260

“Give ear to my prayer, O God,
And do not hide Yourself from my supplication.
Attend to me, and hear me;
I am restless in my complaint, and moan noisily,” Psalm 55:1-2

We humans don’t always want to hear one another complain, and moan, and hurt, and struggle, do we? Oh, sure, we may do our best to listen to others go through hard stuff. But after a while, we may be a little short with our patience and compassion, our love and mercy, our help and kindness. On the other side, we may also not want to bother and burden others with our troubles especially if we’ve been going to the same people over and again with our challenges. No matter how big of an effort we all make to be there for one another, we all do fall short at one time or another in one way or another, right? We’re all so very imperfect in our love.

But oh, what a blessing it is that the Lord Jesus Christ HEARS OUR CRIES, HE HEARS OUR PRAYERS, HE HEARS OUR NEEDS, HE SEES OUR NEEDS, HE KNOWS OUR NEEDS, and HE LOVES US EVEN IN OUR STRUGGLES and ANSWERS US WHEN HE DESIRES HOW HE DESIRES ACCORDING TO HIS PERFECT WILL FOR US! The psalmist is crying out to the Lord in these verses, and we can do the very same! The greatest source of the most incredible love in the whole universe who Himself is love is here for His children! Such a blessing, don’t you think? Let’s praise the Lord for this! Oh, yes! Twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, for every one of our days on this earth – and forever – the Lord Jesus Christ is available to His followers. Praise Him! Oh, praise you oh Lord! AMEN!
