I was caught in a rainstorm. It was a wonderful relief from the brutal heat, but I was walking paralyzed ministry dog Mr. Simeon in his wheelchair and didn’t want either of us to end up sopping wet. We sheltered under some beautiful, old oak trees, then hurried over to other trees that blessedly provided a denser covering.
We WILL face storms in this life. We WILL face trials and tribulations. We WILL face great challenges. We WILL face hurts, hardships, losses, tragedies, deaths, sickness, economic woes, relationship breakups, infidelity, hurricanes, tornadoes, internal battles, external wars, volcanos, stress, arguments, violence, plagues, and a seemingly endless array of other woes and storms and darkness on this earth.
But when we turn from our sins, believe in Jesus Christ as Lord who died to pay our sin penalty and was raised from the dead, truly turning our lives over to God and His ways, we are forgiven, promised everlasting life with Him, and given the greatest shelter in the universe. Christ Himself. And a wondrously, beautifully, marvelously blissfully, personal, intimate relationship with Him. We can look forward to heaven with Him where no sorrow and trouble will ever be, and even while still on this earth we can take shelter and rest in Him through all the storms of this life.
We can find love, peace, mercy, grace, kindness, tenderness, refreshing, renewal, restoration, healing, hope, truth, wisdom, comfort, compassion, direction, forgiveness, fellowship, friendship, truth, joy, rejoicing, and on and on it goes IN CHRIST and IN FELLOWSHIP WITH HIM no matter the storms
Christ is the one in whom we need to take shelter. There is no greater shelter from the storms of this life than IN CHRIST! Hallelujah!
Turn your heart and live fully, wholly, and forever to Him, my friend! Find shelter IN THE LORD!
Father, thank you for being the greatest shelter that ever was, is, and will be. May you be the forever refuge from every storm of all who read this, AMEN! Cause them to fully surrender once and for all their hearts and lives to you, oh LORD!
