Picture it. “Can you hear me?”
“Hello? Hello? I can barely hear you. The connection’s really bad. Who is this? My Caller ID isn’t working.”
“Adam, get with the program. I didn’t give you an I-Phone for nothing. This is God. Put me on speaker phone, okay? I need to get with you and Eve.”
“Oh God. So sorry. She’s busy. She’s making my favorite apple pie. No, don’t ask. Don’t ask where she got the apples, okay God? And, God, forget speaker phone. Got it?”
“Can you hear me? Can you hear me?”
Click.
“Hey honey,” Eve calls out, wiping her hands on her apron and beaming from ear to ear over what she has done with all her new knowledge about apples, pies, and life. “Who was on the phone, dear?”
“I think it was God, hon,” Adam responds as he follows his nose straight to the pie. “I told him He could text me. Figure that way He won’t interrupt us two times the same night. You know?”
Eve sighs, wrapping her arms around Adam. “I hope you didn’t hurt His feelings. You know how He can be a bit sensitive about these things.”
“Hey Eve,” Adam says as he sits down for his half of the pie. “Do you think the cell phone connection will get any better? Seems it was a bit easier to hear from God before all this technology kicked in, you know?”
“How do you like the apple pie, dear?” Eve replies, side swiping Adam with a whopper of a kiss.
“Mmm,” Adam murmurs as he stuff his face, forgetting all about God’s call.
Can you hear me? Can you hear me? When was the last time you turned your cell phone off, your car radio off, your television off, shut your newspaper, closed your book, gave up your gym class, and got real? Real with God. Really real with God. Real time with God.
When was the last time you heard Him? When was the last time you shut the noise off long enough to hear His voice, to dig into His Word, to hear Him speak deep inside your heart? Do you know Adam and Eve heard perfectly well from God before they got booted out of Eden for their big boo boo? Do you reckon they had cell phones in Eden? Of course not. And, believe it or not, they had perfect reception when it came to hearing from God.
Can you hear Him? Can you hear Him? If you want to hear from the Lord God almighty, and you’ve placed your faith in Jesus as Lord and Savior, turn off the noise. Open the Bible. Seek God’s face. Ask Him to speak to you. Listen. And fellowship with the Lord. If you haven’t placed your faith in Jesus as Lord and Savior, are you ready?
“… That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine
heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. … ” Romans 10:9 KJV
