I believe being thankful is a CHOICE. We can CHOOSE to be thankful – or not. There are probably always reasons in all of our lives we can CHOOSE to be down, discouraged, negative, complaining, whining, self-pitying, upset, angry, hurt, bitter, resentful, sad, grieving, anguished, anxious, etc. After all, life can be hard. For some of us, it has been really, really, hard. But no matter what, we have a CHOICE. We can CHOOSE to be thankful to the Lord God almighty NO MATTER WHAT we face, NO MATTER our circumstances – or not.
There is ALWAYS a reason to be thankful. His name is THE LORD JESUS CHRIST. And not only can and should we be thankful to the Lord for the Lord Himself. We can be thankful that through faith in Jesus and in His death and resurrection and our lives being devoted to Him we can have a relationship with God the Father on earth and forever in heaven. And we can be thankful for God’s endless blessings in our lives.
I readily confess I have chosen to be unthankful for so very much of my life because my focus has not been on Jesus and His love and goodness and all His countless blessings. Instead I have focused so much on the hard stuff in my life and on my emotions.
But I am learning to live differently now. I am learning no matter my trials and tribulations, I can CHOOSE to learn to focus on Jesus instead and on loving and serving Him and others and on His goodness and on my blessings and to be thankful. And I can CHOOSE to express my thankfulness to the Lord and to express my thanksgiving about Him to others.
Will you join me in CHOOSING to be thankful each and every day? Oh, let us bless, praise, honor, adore, serve, obey, sing to, worship, thank, and glorify God each and every day and forever and ever, AMEN!
