Choosing Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving isn’t merely an American holiday. It is supposed to be a way of life for all of humanity whereby we turn from our sins, believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and in His death on the cross to pay our sin penalty and in His resurrection, turn to the Lord and His ways, and receive the promise the Lord’s forgiveness and everlasting life with Him. What is fundamental to believing in and following the Lord? Loving Him, praising Him, worshiping Him, honoring Him, obeying Him, serving Him, and being thankful to Him and expressing our thanksgiving to Him!

We should only be thankful in our hearts and express our thanksgiving to the Lord when we like our life’s circumstances, life is easy and comfy, we get what we want, and things are going our way, right? WRONG!

“By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.” Hebrews 13:15

We should be thankful to the Lord continually for who He is, for His death and resurrection, for His Holy Spirit, for the Bible, for the promise of everlasting life with Him to His followers, and for His countless spiritual and physical blessings He bestows upon us each and every day.

“I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.” Psalms 34:1

Friend, each and every day, no matter your story, no matter your circumstances, no matter your trials, no matter anything at all, CHOOSE THANKSGIVING. Choose to be thankful to the Lord in your heart. Choose to express your thanksgiving to the Lord in your words and actions. In praise, worship, song, in your decisions, in obedience, in honoring Him, in loving Him, in obeying Him, in serving Him, in glorifying Him. CHOOSE THANKSGIVING. Live for Christ! Be thankful to the Lord! Oh, thank the Lord! Oh, praise the Lord! Be thankful, thankful, thankful! Forever and ever, AMEN!

“And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.” Colossians 3:15
