“…I am your vessel. Help me to do whatever you want,” I prayed silently to the Lord.
I knew God would give me what I prayed for because I was praying according to His will.
“And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.” 1 John 5:14-15 KJV
How did I know I was praying according to His will?
“But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.” 2 Timothy 2:20-21 KJV
Who is the master? The Lord is!
And I knew I needed His help, and need His help every day, to be His vessel. And I knew I needed to write a message on being God’s vessel. And so I am.
A vessel is a container. It is not in charge of itself. Being God’s vessel, as His children are to be, means we yield ourselves to God who is in charge of us so He can pour through our hearts and lives His Spirit, His love, His power, His mercy, His grace, His goodness, His kindness, His provision, His forgiveness, His peace, His joy, His hope, His promises, His wisdom, etc. to the world around us.
When we fill our hearts and lives with what is ungodly, unholy, and unrighteous, this is what comes out of us onto the world around us. When we continually humble ourselves and purify ourselves and purge from ourselves all ungodliness, we are able to be filled and to overflow with and to pour out onto the world around us the fruit and blessings and blessedness of God’s Holy Spirit and His Word in us.
May we be humble, submissive, submitted, surrendered, yielded, loving, joyful, peaceful, hopeful, and thankful vessels held in the all-powerful, wonderful, strong and mighty hand of the Lord as He uses us to reach and bless and help and comfort and care for and draw to Himself people all around this world.
Is your vessel pure today? Are your heart and life filled with the Spirit of Christ, the love of Christ, the light of Christ, the beauty of Christ, the wondrousness of Christ, the blessedness of Christ, the goodness of Christ, etc.?
Today, and each and every day, may you keep yourself pure for the Lord that you be His vessel bringing Him love, honor, praise, joy, and glory – and bringing to this world in His name whatever He desires to pour through the vessel that is your life, AMEN!
May we be Christ containers. Vessels of God. Loving and honoring and serving and praising and worshiping and obeying and glorifying God each and every day and forever and ever, AMEN!
“And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.” 1 John 3:3 KJV
