Complaining Isn’t Thanksgiving
May seem obvious to you, but complaining isn’t Thanksgiving. And some of us very much including myself need to do a much better job of owning up to complaining, repenting from it, and choosing Thanksgiving to God instead! Unfortunately for those of us well-versed at neglecting to see our sin or refusing to acknowledge it and simply continuing on with it can go on for years doing the same wrong thing and neglecting to do what is right.
My confession? For years, I complained, whined, moaned, groaned, and felt sorry for myself as I dragged zillions of others into my self-centered sinful mess. Thanks be to God for I can take no credit for this whatsoever, I am now able to recognize when I fall into complaining more and more quickly and try really hard to repent quickly and to resume learning to live my life filled with Thanksgiving.
When our hearts, mouths, and actions are filled with complaining, how could we possibly have room for Thanksgiving? Let’s stop our complaining. May our hearts, words, and actions be marked not by once-in-a-while thankfulness to God but by continual Thanksgiving to the Lord most high!
