“For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written:
“How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace,
Who bring glad tidings of good things!”
But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?” So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:13-17
“And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.” John 17:3
She hadn’t slept in days because of the drugs in her system, but she had no hesitation when she saw me in asking if she could help walk my dogs as she had done previously. Then just minutes into our walk she asked the big question:
“Do you really believe that?” she asked.
She was utterly exhausted from days of no sleep, and from the effects of the drugs, but she was crystal clear in hearing every word I spoke about the Lord Jesus Christ, as she had been the first time we met, and she was crystal clear in her question. Did I really believe? About the Lord Jesus Christ. That He is Lord, Son of God, died on the cross to pay the punishment for our sins, and that He was raised from the dead, and that all who turn from a lifestyle of sin and believe this message and devote themselves to Him now and forever are forgiven and given a forever relationship with God, eternity in heaven rather than hell and the lake of fire. Did I really believe? Do I really believe?
I had no hesitation in answering. Yes. Absolutely yes! Jesus Christ is Lord! And my life is His! Forever!
We kept walking the dogs. We talked some about the dogs, and some about getting off the drugs. Most importantly, I prayed for her, talked to her more about Jesus, and explained He is what she needs. Whom she needs. We all do. We are all sinners in need of God’s forgiveness through Christ.
We said goodbye, hugged, and I told her I love her. I told her to contact me if she needs help with Jesus, but I told her most importantly she doesn’t need me to call upon the name of the Lord. She needs to call on HIS name. She needs Jesus. Just like we all do.
Amazing how a woman so high on drugs without sleep for days asked a question countless other people don’t take the time to ask. Don’t care to ask. A question about the Lord Jesus Christ. Do I really believe? Is He real? Did He really die on the cross, and was He really raised from the dead, so all who repent and believe in Him as Lord are forgiven and given eternal life? YES!
Do you really believe? Do you know He is the ONLY way to a forever relationship with God? Have you placed your faith in Him as Lord? Truly devoted your life to Him?
My friend both times I’ve walked with her did not hesitate to ask me questions about the Lord Jesus Christ. She is searching, isn’t she? Seeking, isn’t she? Even in the thick of the fiery battle she is in, even in the depths of her sin, she is wondering.
Is Jesus Christ really Lord?
Oh, yes He is! Yes He is! Jesus Christ is Lord forever!
Have you given your life utterly to Him? Totally? Wholly? Surrendered all to Jesus? Committed your life sincerely to Him? Is your everyday life reflective you have dedicated yourself totally to God and His ways? To the Lord? Oh, may it be so! For He is Lord – forever!
