God Uses Ex-Prisoner to Open Prison Door

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.” Mt. 28:19-20

“Hey, I need another booklet,” a woman called out to me in the park one day in New York City.

I walked over to the homeless woman who had called out to me. I wish I had a better memory. I don’t. But either the Lord reminds me, I have to ask, or somehow in the conversation I am reminded of how I know someone. I meet so many people doing streets ministry, and I love each and every one of them with Christ’s love. Like this one.

She wanted another one of my Finding the Light Gospel tracts which includes my personal story. Not for her, apparently, but for someone else.

“You want one, or a few?” I asked.

“I’ll take a few,” she said.

“How many?” I asked.

She told me the number, and I pulled them out of the fanny pack I wear around my waist that is always filled with Gospel tracts and sometimes my Faithful Magazine.

“Did you call [such and such]?” she asked. As soon as she said the name of a women’s maximum security prison, I remembered. It was a prison she had been in. And weeks before when I first met her, she had suggested I contact the prison to see if the person in charge wanted me to start sending my tracts and Faithful Magazine there for the inmates.

“Yes!” I exclaimed. “Thank you so much!” I had called the prison, and the chaplain had asked me to send a big bunch of tracts & devotionals for her to try out with the hope she would ask me to send them regularly.

The Lord had used an ex-prisoner not only to open the door at the prison for the Gospel tracts and devotionals to be sent in, but now she was handing out tracts herself.

This message isn’t really about an ex-prisoner being used by God to spread the message about Jesus Christ being Lord and Savior of the world, and that the only way to everlasting life is through faith in Jesus, and that we need to turn away from a lifestyle of sin and believe Jesus died on the cross to pay our sin penalty and was raised from the dead, truly devoting our lives henceforth to God and His ways. And about how we all need God’s forgiveness and that that only comes through our lives being committed to Christ. And that it’s only by God’s grace we are saved from His wrath, eternal damnation, and forever in hell and the lake of fire.

This message is ABOUT and FOR all of us. The Good News of the Gospel of the Kingdom of God, and of the Lord Jesus Christ being the only way to a forever relationship with God does NOT stop with us when we hear the Truth and repent and receive Jesus as Lord of our lives. The message NEEDS TO BE CONTINUED. It needs to be SPREAD. It needs to GO OUT INTO ALL THE WORLD. And every one of us who believes in Jesus Christ as Lord has a responsibility, and has opportunities as the Lord leads us, to share this news which is the best message in the universe.

A homeless woman who once was in a maximum security prison is now on the streets sharing the Gospel message through tracts and devotionals.

What about you? Have you surrendered your life to Christ as Lord, and have you yielded your life to God to use you to share the Gospel message?

Why not begin today?
