Departure Time

“Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.”” 2 Tim. 2:19

““Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.” Mt. 7:21

I was talking to a woman with whom I had very carefully explained the Gospel message, who some time afterward had very clearly asked God to forgive her sins and placed her faith in Christ as Lord, and who was sitting in front of me very clearly disclosing how she was very clearly lying to the public at large. I explained very carefully and clearly that she was sinning against God and that her new lifestyle of following Christ needed to be based on living for Him. In other words, she needed to live according to God’s ways now and leave her lifestyle of sin behind. She clearly understood but she clearly had no intention of repenting from this sin and doing what would please God instead. The Lord’s will for her was plain and clear, that she needed to repent and submit to Him, to turn away from lying and be honest, but she plainly and clearly would have none of it.

Is she alone in this? Clearly not. We all need to be mightily careful. Following Jesus is a WAY OF LIFE, it’s a brand new LIFESTYLE, it’s a COMMITMENT to living for Him according to God’s ways, and it involves continually purifying ourselves, choosing God’s ways rather than our own, and repenting when His Spirit shows us sin in our hearts and lives, and ever striving to do what is pleasing in His sight. We need to DEPART FROM INIQUITY, not just profess Christ as Lord, as the first scripture above shows us. The Lord makes this PLAIN and CLEAR throughout His Word!

Let this be a reminder for all of us to be sure to be living for Christ in all things at all times for the glory of the Lord.
